Exploring Life & Business with Shakia Franklin of Glow Treatment Studio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shakia Franklin.

Hi Shakia, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was finishing up my enlistment in the Air Force and needed to figure out what I wanted to do next. I already had a love for makeup and figured that it would be nice to get into the skincare field. My boyfriend at the time (now husband) lived in California and the plan was for me and our son to move to California after I finished my enlistment. I lined everything up with esthetician school before I left so that I could start school as soon as possible! I graduated and obtained my esthetician license in 2019. Starting out I offered waxing, eyelash extensions and facials but as time went on, I realized I was really passionate about skincare. So I niched down and stuck to facials, continued my education and I now specialize in corrective skincare. I recently moved to South Carolina in January!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There has definitely been some challenges! I became licensed in 2019 and then the pandemic happened so I wasn’t able to work in my field very long at first.
Then, there was the realization that I didn’t want to do some of the services that I offered anymore.

I am now a mom of two so balancing life of a stay at home mom, wife and being a licensed esthetician has been a challenge.

The most recent challenge was moving from California to South Carolina, so starting from zero clients again! But I did it before, so I’ll be fine!

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At Glow Treatment Studio, I specialize in corrective skincare—helping clients feel confident in their bare skin through customized treatments, education, and real results. As a licensed esthetician, I offer professional facials, virtual consultations, and curated skincare regimens using medical-grade products that target concerns like acne, hyperpigmentation, and uneven texture.

What sets Glow apart is the experience. I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all skincare. Every facial is tailored, every product recommendation is intentional, and every client is met with care, consistency, and transparency. I’m known for creating a welcoming, no-judgment space that blends results-driven treatments with a touch of relaxation and luxury.

I’m especially proud of building a brand that empowers—not just pampers. Glow Treatment Studio is about more than glowing skin. It’s about helping women—especially busy moms—carve out time for themselves, learn about their skin, and build routines that truly work for their lifestyle.

I want readers to know that whether you come see me in person in Charleston, book me for an event or pop-up facial, or work with me virtually, you’re going to be supported. I travel for special events, bridal parties, and wellness activations—bringing the Glow experience directly to you. However we work together, you’ll leave with more than a glow—you’ll leave with knowledge, confidence, and a plan.

How do you define success?
I define success as living life on your own terms—doing what truly makes you happy, not what others expect of you. For me, that means showing up fully as myself and building a business that aligns with the life I want to live. And of course, every time I help a client achieve their skin goals and feel more confident in their own skin, that’s a success I’m incredibly proud of.
