Life & Work with Davion Turner of Simpsonville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Davion Turner.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I currently work in the IT field, but modeling has always been a deep passion of mine. Like many kids growing up, I dreamed big—wanting to be a fashion icon or even a star athlete. But one dream stuck with me more than the rest: seeing myself in the pages of GQ magazine.

My journey into modeling started organically. I began working with local photographers like Johnny Sizemore and Rodney Sullivan, doing birthday shoots just for fun. The feedback I received was overwhelmingly positive, and the encouragement from my family and friends was even stronger. That support lit a fire in me to take it more seriously.

I started searching online for modeling agencies, submitting applications wherever I could. Some never responded, others wanted money upfront. But then, I got a call that changed everything—Millie Lewis Agency reached out and took a chance on me. That opportunity opened the door for real momentum in my modeling career.

I may not be exactly where I want to be yet, but I know this is just the beginning. Every step has been a lesson and a blessing—and I’m committed to seeing how far this journey can take me.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Many of the challenges I faced were internal battling self-doubt and often feeling like I didn’t measure up to other local models. I also struggled with body dysmorphia, which made it difficult at times to truly see my own potential and value.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a commercial model, which means I work in an industry that focuses on promoting products, services, and brands through visual storytelling. Whether it’s print, digital, or lifestyle campaigns, I’m often in front of the camera helping bring a creative vision to life.

People have always known me as the “pretty boy” growing up. But it wasn’t just about looks I’ve always had a natural pull toward the camera and the creative energy that comes with it. Modeling has allowed me to express a side of myself that feels authentic and purposeful.

What I’m most proud of is the person I’ve become through it all. I’ve faced self-doubt, rejection, and internal battles, but I kept moving forward. I didn’t let obstacles define me they shaped me. That resilience, along with my strong drive and work ethic, is what truly sets me apart. I show up, put in the work, and keep striving to grow not just as a model, but as a person with something valuable to offer.

Any big plans?
One of my future goals is to transition into print modeling. I’m excited about the creative possibilities it offers and ready to take that next step if the opportunity presents itself.
