Today we’d like to introduce you to Vivian Obino.
Hi Vivian , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always been a creative — full of ideas and energy that I just needed to let out. I started my content creation journey on YouTube, doing book reviews. It was my way of combining my love for reading with my passion for expressing myself and connecting with others.
As I got more comfortable in front of the camera and more intentional with my content, I realized I had so much more to share. That’s when I expanded to Instagram, diving into health and fitness, beauty, fashion, and movie reviews — all the things I genuinely love and enjoy.
The response from my audience was encouraging, which really helped me build an authentic connection with my followers.
Now, content creation is more than a passion — it’s a part of who I am. I get to be creative, connect, and build something meaningful, and I’m excited to keep evolving and inspiring others through my journey.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road — but it’s been worth it. One of the biggest challenges early on was consistency. When I started with book reviews on YouTube, I had the passion, but balancing filming, editing, and life wasn’t always easy. Sometimes views were low or growth felt slow, and it was hard not to feel discouraged.
Another major challenge has been lack of equipment. To this day, I still use my phone to shoot, edit, and post all my content. I don’t have a fancy vlogging camera or studio setup — just creativity, resourcefulness, and a strong desire to show up and connect with my audience. It’s taught me how to do a lot with very little.
When I transitioned to Instagram and broadened my content to include health, fitness, beauty, fashion, and movie reviews, imposter syndrome also crept in. I’d question whether I was doing enough or if people were really paying attention. And then there’s the constant learning — understanding algorithms, keeping up with trends, and staying motivated even when inspiration runs low.
But every struggle has built resilience. I’ve learned to be consistent, create through the ups and downs, and trust that showing up with heart matters more than having the perfect setup. I’m proud of how far I’ve come — and I’m excited for where I’m headed.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Professionally, I work in customer service as a team manager, and I’ve built my career around people — understanding them, supporting them, and helping teams perform at their best. Over the years, I’ve developed a strong background in stakeholder management, recruiting, and training. I’m known for my communication skills, my positive energy, and my ability to bring structure and calm to fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
What I’m most proud of is the impact I’ve had on the people I’ve worked with — whether it’s mentoring someone through a tough time at work, helping a team hit a challenging target, or creating processes that make day-to-day operations smoother and more efficient. I’ve learned that leadership isn’t about having all the answers, it’s about listening, staying grounded, and creating space for others to thrive.
What sets me apart is my people-first mindset. I approach every role with empathy, ownership, and a genuine desire to create a positive experience — not just for customers, but for colleagues and stakeholders too. I believe in service that goes beyond the script, and in leadership that empowers others to grow.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I’ve had some incredible people in my corner, and I’m so grateful for them.
In my professional journey, my mentor and boss, Mr. Martin, deserves so much credit. From the very beginning, he saw potential in me that I couldn’t even see in myself. He believed in me, challenged me, and guided me through moments of uncertainty and growth. He didn’t just give me a job — he gave me the kind of mentorship that shapes your mindset, builds your confidence, and pushes you to rise. His leadership and support have played a huge role in the professional I am today.
On the content creation side, I have so much appreciation for the Kenyan creator community. Even without knowing it, they’ve helped me so much — through their stories, their authenticity, and their willingness to share ideas and experiences. Watching their journeys inspired me to keep going and reminded me that there’s room for all of us to grow and thrive.
Whether it’s been through direct mentorship or silent inspiration, I carry the lessons I’ve learned from these individuals with me every day — and I’m endlessly thankful.
