Today we’d like to introduce you to Anna Cadavos.
Hi Anna, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’ve always been into health and wellness. Growing up in the early ’90s, my mom was a fitness instructor and lifeguard, and health was just a part of our rhythm as a family. I spent most of my days outside, playing sports, eating fresh produce from our garden, and being active without even thinking about it. That foundation made me naturally curious about the body and how to take care of it.
But it wasn’t until college that I really began to experience how fragile health can feel when things go sideways. I started noticing strange symptoms and eventually was diagnosed with multiple autoimmune diseases—Hashimoto’s, Graves, and Addison’s. My life quickly became consumed with managing food sensitivities and allergies that seemed to come out of nowhere. At the time, I was a swim instructor and bodybuilder—living in extremes and doing everything I could to stay “healthy” on paper. But in reality, I was burning out from the inside out. There was no balance, and the harder I pushed, the worse my health became.
The tipping point came when I saw a gastroenterologist who told me my food reactions were all in my head—that I was simply too young to be experiencing this kind of breakdown. I walked away from that appointment devastated—but also determined. I knew my body wasn’t lying to me. So I left the traditional Western medicine model behind and turned toward functional medicine and naturopathic care, desperate to find answers.
That decision changed everything.
Through my own research and a series of supportive practitioners, I discovered I had been living with mold toxicity and a significant parasite burden. I began to detox slowly, learning layer by layer what it meant to heal from the inside out. Along the way, I realized that some of the most essential parts of the healing process—like drainage pathway support, the role of binders, managing Herxheimer reactions, and preventing sepsis—were often left out of the conversations I was having with professionals. I learned how to advocate for myself. And eventually, I completely reversed my autoimmune conditions and food sensitivities. That experience ignited a fire in me: I knew I was meant to help others walk the same path with more support and less confusion.
So I went on to become a certified holistic nutritionist and natural health practitioner. I was fortunate to complete a one-year internship with the naturopathic doctor who helped me transform my health. Under her mentorship, I studied live blood microscopy and biofeedback therapies—modalities that would later become foundational in my own practice.
In July 2024, my husband (who is also our resident biofeedback technician) and I launched Root and Resonance, our remote holistic health practice. Our mission was simple: to provide effective, affordable, root-cause healing support to everyday families across the country. We believe holistic healthcare should be accessible. It shouldn’t be reserved for the elite or tied up in fear-based narratives. We view symptoms as the body’s language—its way of signaling that something deeper needs attention. We teach our clients to listen to their bodies, to trust their intuition, and to stop giving their power away to any system, practitioner, or authority that doesn’t respect their sovereignty.
In our first year, we’ve served over 300 clients and grown from a team of two to five. I’m currently completing my final requirements to sit for my boards this fall and become a Board Certified Doctor of Natural Health.
This journey has been deeply personal, incredibly humbling, and filled with purpose. I wouldn’t change a single step—even the hardest ones—because they’ve equipped me to do the work I love most: helping others find hope, healing, and freedom in their own bodies.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Absolutely not. It’s been anything but smooth—and I think that’s part of what makes this work so meaningful to me. Healing isn’t linear, and building a business rooted in integrity and compassion isn’t either.
On a personal level, healing from autoimmune disease, mold toxicity, and parasites was one of the most grueling experiences of my life. There were days I could barely get out of bed, and nights I cried myself to sleep because I couldn’t eat without reacting to something. At one point, I could count the foods I tolerated on one hand. I felt like a shell of the person I used to be. And yet, I was still working, still showing up, still trying to make sense of what was happening in my body. There’s an emotional toll that comes with feeling dismissed or gaslit by the medical system, especially when you’re young and outwardly look “fine.” That experience taught me how to fiercely advocate for myself, and now I help others do the same.
Professionally, starting Root and Resonance was both thrilling and terrifying. My husband and I bootstrapped everything. We poured in our savings, time, and hearts without knowing if it would catch. We faced the usual startup challenges—tech hiccups, learning how to structure our systems, creating protocols from scratch—but what made it more complicated was doing it all while raising kids, managing our own health, and going against the grain of the conventional medical model. There’s pressure when you’re creating something different, something people may not fully understand yet. But we stayed anchored in our mission.
There were also mindset battles—fears about charging what our work was worth, moments of imposter syndrome, wondering if we were doing enough or too much. It’s hard to be both the practitioner and the business owner, the one holding space for clients and the one answering emails at 11 PM. And yet, every challenge refined us. We’ve learned how to pivot, how to ask for help, how to trust the process, and how to stay in alignment with our values no matter what.
So no, it hasn’t been smooth. But it’s been worth every bump, every stretch, and every lesson. The hard seasons gave me the grit to keep going and the empathy to truly understand what my clients are walking through.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Our practice is called Root and Resonance, and we specialize in helping people uncover and heal the root causes of chronic symptoms through a holistic, bio-individual approach. We work with clients all over the country—most done remotely—offering frequency medicine, biofeedback testing, custom detox protocols, and education that empowers them to heal with confidence.
Our clients are often women and/or their children who feel dismissed by conventional medicine. Many are exhausted, overwhelmed, and carrying a long list of symptoms that don’t “fit neatly” into a diagnosis: things like fatigue, brain fog, hormonal imbalance, infertility, eczema, food reactions, chronic pain, unexplained weight gain or autoimmune flares. They’ve tried it all—elimination diets, supplements, expensive labs, even specialists—but nothing has truly gotten to the root. That’s where we come in.
We specialize in working with the “mystery illness” crowd—people with layers of toxicity, trauma, and dysregulation. Most of our clients are dealing with things like mold exposure, parasite overgrowth, gut dysfunction, nervous system overwhelm, or malnourishment at the cellular level. We don’t rely on labs alone; we listen deeply to symptoms and use bioenergetic feedback and live microscopic observation to see what the body is asking for support with in real time.
What sets us apart is our philosophy and approach. We’re not here to scare people into healing or trap them in never-ending protocols. We don’t create dependency or overwhelm. Instead, we teach our clients to trust their body’s innate ability to heal. We emphasize drainage before detox, and we create strategic, tiered protocols that are homeopathic-based, manageable and effective. We make it simple, we make it safe, and sustainable. Everything we recommend, we’ve walked through ourselves.
Another thing that makes Root and Resonance different is how mission-driven we are. We believe holistic care should be accessible—not reserved for the elite or those with endless resources. That’s why we keep our pricing affordable, offer payment plans, often customize protocols to fit budgets, and structure our care so that people can actually follow through on it. Our mission is to serve middle-class families who are often overlooked in both the conventional and alternative health worlds.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud that we’ve created something that feels genuine, grounded, and transformative. Our clients leave not only with results—but with education, confidence, and the tools to support their families for years to come. They’re no longer Googling symptoms or bouncing from one practitioner to the next. They’re empowered. They’re thriving. And they know how to listen to their body without fear.

We’re also expanding soon to offer additional virtual programs for those ready to take their healing deeper. Whether you’re just beginning your health journey or you’ve been chasing answers for years, Root and Resonance exists to bring hope, clarity, and direction.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I believe we’re on the cusp of a massive shift in how people view health—and I’m actually really hopeful. The last few years have cracked open a deep awareness: people are questioning the mainstream narrative, asking better questions, and no longer settling for “you’re fine” when their bodies are clearly telling a different story.
In the next 5 to 10 years, I see a continued rise in root-cause, whole-body, and frequency-based medicine. People are waking up to the fact that true healing doesn’t come from managing symptoms with meds or chasing diagnoses. It comes from understanding the deeper layers: the nervous system, toxicity, nutrition, trauma, and energetic imbalances. Frequency medicine and bioenergetic testing will go from fringe to foundational, because it offers a real-time way to listen to the body that’s both non-invasive and incredibly accurate.
I also think we’ll see a shift away from over-testing and protocol-hopping toward more bio-individual, simplified approaches. There’s already fatigue in the “wellness world”—people are burned out on protocols, confused by conflicting advice, and craving clarity. Practitioners who can offer strategic, compassionate, and customized care (without fear-mongering) will be the ones people trust long term.
Another huge shift I see is in how health is delivered. Remote and virtual care is here to stay, and for good reason—it’s more accessible, more flexible, and meets people where they are. That said, there’s going to be a deepening demand for integrity in this space. With so many coaches and practitioners online, people are going to look for those who walk the walk, have lived experience, and are deeply educated. We’ll see more hybrid models—like ours—where frequency testing, detox coaching, and practitioner-led mentorship blend together to create lasting results.
I also think we’ll see a breaking down of the wall between emotional healing and physical healing. The nervous system and trauma piece is no longer optional. You can’t detox properly if your body doesn’t feel safe. And you can’t heal your gut if your nervous system is in constant fight-or-flight. This is going to become a bigger part of the conversation, and I’m already building it into how I support my clients.
Overall, the industry is becoming more intuitive, more personalized, and more empowering. People are hungry to get their power back. They’re done outsourcing their health and ready to partner with practitioners who can guide them—not control them.
And that’s the kind of future I’m excited to help shape.
