Meet Dr. Troy Hall of Charleston, South Carolina

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Troy Hall.

Hi Dr. Troy, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
When I first started down this path, my focus wasn’t on building a framework. It was on fixing a feeling. I had seen firsthand how many workplaces functioned like machines: efficient but emotionally disconnected. People showed up, did the work, but didn’t feel seen, valued, or heard. That disconnect was costing organizations more than just morale. It was costing them innovation, retention, and trust.

That’s when the idea of infusing COHESION into workplace cultures took root. I wanted to help build cultures where people felt like they belonged. Not just “included,” but essential. That’s the heartbeat of what eventually became Cohesion Culture™.

Grounded in research and stress-tested in the real world, the framework is built around three key pillars: belonging, value, and mutual commitment. When organizations focus on these, something powerful happens, performance goes up, turnover goes down, and leadership pipelines actually grow instead of wither.

What started as a leadership initiative has grown into a full cultural transformation system. We’ve developed programs like The Cohesive Leader, which equips executives with practical tools to embed cohesion into their everyday actions. Think intentional trust building, stronger communication, and values-driven decision making.

We also created The Cohesive Sales Approach, which flips the traditional sales script. Instead of focusing on closing at all costs, we train teams to lead with empathy, build trust, and engage in meaningful, consultative dialogue.

Cohesion Culture™ is now integrated into executive coaching, workshops, and full-scale cultural alignment efforts that help organizations succeed.

Our movement says: start with belonging, end with breakthrough performance. Because when people feel like they matter, they show up differently and so do the results.

That’s my story. What began as a desire to help people feel like they belong has turned into a mission to make cohesion the standard, not the exception.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Smooth road? Hardly. For the most part, there are two main obstacles we encounter. First, organizations want to spend money on their culture, but fail to make the financial commitment necessary. These organizations will often talk a good game about culture until it comes time to invest in it. Mostly the mindset is they are “hopeful” with a one-and-done training class they can resolve the dysfunction within their work environments.

Second, when leaders think they know everything and have it all figured out that’s when the trouble really starts. The organizational leaders that need our services the most are generally the ones that are so convinced they have it all together, they position themselves to be unteachable.

Our best clients are those that have a good infrastructure in place, yet they need someone to help them make it better. That’s where we come in. It is not our intent to change their culture, simply give it a boost through cohesion. Cohesion is a causal phenomenon, not correlational. Meaning when it is present performance occurs every time. And, the level of performance is derived from engaged employees who are helpful without being told, active in problem solving, vested in theirs and the company’s success, and eager to learn, grow, and develop. Cohesion provides a cause and effect relationship between cohesion, performance, and engagement.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Cohesion Culture™ is an award-winning program that guides leaders to retain their top talent by infusing cohesion into their cultures. Our Cohesion Culture™ Crew is able to provide strategic leadership direction, improve leadership development with the Accountability Coaching for Transformation program, and by offering interactive, hands-on training programs for in-person and on-line sessions. These sessions are unique because they do not offer trust falls, rope courses, or death by PowerPoint activities. Instead, the training and development takes real-world issues and helps participants find solutions through activities that need effective leadership skills to solve.

Any big plans?
For the future, our Cohesive Leader Community and the Cohesive Sales Approach program will be of primary focus.

The Cohesive Leader Community and The Cohesive Sales Approach provide a transformative framework for individuals and organizations committed to creating high-performing, inclusive environments.

The Cohesive Leader Community is a collaborative network of growth-minded professionals who embrace the values of belonging, value, and shared commitment. Through strategic guidance, leadership coaching, and peer connection, members gain practical tools to lead with authenticity, foster trust, and inspire team cohesion. There are three levels of membership specifically tailored for individuals in one of three stages of leadership development.

The Cohesive Sales Approach extends these principles into the sales arena, teaching professionals how to build relationships rooted in trust, consultative inquiry, and aligned solutions. Rather than pushing products, cohesive sellers engage buyers through need-focused, relationship-driven conversations leading to greater loyalty and long-term success.
