Check Out Phor Ellis’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Phor Ellis.

Hi Phor, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
It all started out as something therapeutic during the season of a tough time in my life, everyday art showed up. As a former two sport collegiate athlete, my passion for sports was replaced with art.

Sometimes I still don’t know what the heck i am doing, I just know that i am doing what i love and reaching people . All while embracing the journey and still learning everyday

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Everything has its ups and downs but there’s value in the process of it all. Some struggles are seasonal, like sales and actually art pieces vs art related jobs.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Phor is a self-taught artist, painter and muralist whose journey began not in galleries, but in a personal search for healing. Based out of Anderson, South Carolina, Phor has been on a profound art journey. Since 2019, painting has served as both therapy and expression-an outlet for transforming pain into passion, solitude into connection. The ex collegiate athlete turned inspired artist.

Working with acrylic, oil, and spray paint on canvas and walls, The Artist blends abstract energy with moments of realism, all bathed in vibrant color.
Each piece is rooted in the Black experience— honoring its depth, struggle, joy, and resilience— while exploring the emotional spectrum through color and form.

Recognized as one of South Carolina’s upcoming artists in 2024, The Artist creates not just to be seen, but to help others feel seen. Every brushstroke is an invitation to witness healing, emotion, and unapologetic truth.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I think for me my upbringing has molded me to the young man, the creator I am today. The ability to be resilient, consistent, confident, creative and bold. That allows me to just be myself and stay true to just that. I think all of those qualities have everything to do with the success I’ve been apart of.
