Today we’d like to introduce you to Azl Leak.
Hi Azl , so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Ever since I was young, I’ve had a deep love for fashion—mixing colors, experimenting with outfits, and creating my own style. I’ve always been a creative person, and fashion was my way of expressing that creativity. But growing up, I noticed something that stuck with me—there were rarely any fashion games or outlets for boys interested in style and design, and that always bothered me. It made me realize how important representation and individuality are.
Starting my own brand was something I always dreamed about, but I knew I didn’t want to rush it. I wanted it to mean something. I began sketching, playing with ideas, and figuring out what kind of message I wanted my clothing to send. It took me two or three years of brainstorming, refining concepts, and staying inspired before I landed on the name and logo that would become Royal Palms.
Royal Palms isn’t just about clothing—it represents strength, resilience, and style. It’s about taking what life throws at you and still showing up with confidence and grace. Everything I create is rooted in who I am, what I’ve experienced, and what I believe in. This brand is me— elevated.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not. Like most creatives, I’ve faced my fair share of challenges, and I think that’s just part of the process. One of the biggest early struggles for me was building confidence in myself and my work. As creators, our ideas and designs feel personal—almost like our children—so putting them out into the world and opening them up to judgment can be intimidating. But I’ve learned that believing in yourself is the foundation for everything else. You can’t expect the world to support your vision if you don’t stand behind it first.
Another major challenge has been time management. Starting a clothing brand, especially without a blueprint or someone to guide you, can feel overwhelming. There’s so much more to it than just creating dope designs—you have to learn the business side, production, marketing, and everything in between. I’ve had to juggle learning it all while still pushing forward creatively. But with every step, I’m growing, getting more organized, and finding my rhythm. The road hasn’t been smooth, but it’s been worth it.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
First and foremost, I’m a creative. I develop original designs, concepts, and pieces for my clothing brand, Royal Palms. I specialize in luxury streetwear—blending modern, upscale aesthetics with the realness and edge of street culture. Over the years, I’ve been known for my fashion sense and ability to put together unique looks, and that naturally evolved into building a brand that reflects who I am.
What I’m most proud of is simply starting. That first step takes a lot of courage, especially when you don’t have examples to follow or a clear roadmap. But I invested in myself, believed in my vision, and kept moving forward even when things got tough. That persistence is something I carry into everything I do.
What sets me apart is my vision and how authentically it’s tied to who I am. Royal Palms isn’t just about clothes—it’s a reflection of my personality, my story, and the values I stand on: resilience, strength, royalty, perseverance, and dedication. I’m not just creating fashion—I’m building a movement rooted in meaning and identity.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
When it comes to finding a mentor, I believe it should be someone you genuinely look up to—whether it’s their business principles, creative process, mindset, or even just the way they carry themselves. A great mentor isn’t just someone who’s been successful, but someone who’s still curious, still learning, and always growing. That kind of energy creates space for you to keep evolving, too. You want someone who pushes you, but also grows alongside you—so there’s never a cap on your potential.
As for networking, the best advice I can give is: just do it. Put yourself out there. Talk to people. Introduce yourself at events, message others online, engage with your peers—even your competitors. Don’t be afraid to ask questions or ask for advice. And most importantly, support others. The more value you bring to the table, the more naturally opportunities and relationships will come back around.
