Today we’d like to introduce you to House-Wives Kai And Lo.
Hi House-wives, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
We initially began our DJ journeys separately, each developing our own style and sound. While preparing for an upcoming event, we decided to experiment with a back-to-back (B2B) set just for fun. After just a few tracks, it became clear that our styles complemented each other exceptionally well.
Coincidentally, the entertainment director happened to walk in during our session. Impressed by our chemistry and sound, he suggested we perform a B2B set at the event we were hosting. The event was a huge success, and the positive feedback we received inspired us to officially form a duo.
We spent some time brainstorming names, but it wasn’t until we were driving back from EDC that the name “House-wives” came to us—and it stuck.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
When we first started, we had little knowledge of the music industry. Yet within just a few months, we found ourselves planning and organizing our own event. The journey has been a steep learning curve, and we’ve gained a tremendous amount of insight along the way.
As two women entering a predominantly male-dominated industry, gaining recognition and being taken seriously has presented its challenges—especially in a city like Charleston, where, at the time we began, there were only two other female DJs. Despite that, we’ve discovered a true passion for music and DJing.
While we’re still learning and growing, we’re committed to evolving our brand. Balancing our day jobs with DJing and traveling can be demanding, but our dedication keeps us moving forward.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Our sound is a fusion of various styles within the electronic music umbrella, with a strong foundation in tech house, minimal, and peak-time techno. A House-wives set delivers high energy, dynamic transitions, and a carefully curated vibe that keeps the crowd engaged from start to finish.
We’re also recognized for our contrasting yet complementary styles—not just in music, but in fashion as well. As true opposites who attract, our individuality is what sets us apart and adds a unique flair to everything we do, both behind the decks and beyond.
How do you define success?
We live by the mantra, “If you build it, they will come,” and it has truly defined our journey. From the beginning, we’ve put ourselves out there—pushing past self-doubt and the skepticism of others—to pursue what we believe we’re capable of achieving.
This mindset has opened doors to opportunities we never imagined possible so early in our careers; for example, playing at one of the premier afters clubs in Las Vegas. For us, success means leading with confidence, trusting in your vision, and having the courage to create something from the ground up.
One of the most rewarding aspects of our journey has been building a supportive community. Forming genuine relationships with people who consistently show up for our sets has been both humbling and essential to our growth. That foundation of authentic connection is, without a doubt, a key part of what we define as success.
