Meet Cornelius Strickland of Myrtle Beach

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cornelius Strickland.

Hi Cornelius, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Where to do I start? Let’s just say I should have listened to my mom 7 years ago! I traveled a bit before I started the Tudaloo Travels YouTube channel. My mom said I should document and record my travels. I told her I didn’t want to become like those “annoying travel influencers” I just wanted to travel! I was so determined to just travel for enjoyment that I RARELY took pics even for my personal use! She said I should combine my love for travel and my Television Production degree, something I did take consideration in since I always enjoyed creating videos.
Fast forward to 2022, I FINALLY took her advice seriously and started the Tudaloo Travels YouTube channel and I couldn’t be happier! Documenting my travels has been amazing! Learning a new video editing system was a challenge our first year. Things have changed since I graduated from college in 2005 so relearning things and updating my hardware for this venture was a fun learning experience.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
One of the struggles with starting a travel channel is funding the travel! It’s fun but expensive venture that we spare no expense. We value experiences and memories money can always be made.
The other struggle was promoting our presence. YouTube has a lot of travel creators so it’s easy to get lost in the shuffle, so we are always looking for ways to stand out.
My biggest struggle was learning how to edit all over again! I learned how to edit on Adobe Premier by watching countless YouTube videos. I had to update my laptop because when I uploaded our first 6 videos it took 12 or more hours to upload each time! I realized my old laptop couldn’t process Adobe Premier fast enough so after a few more YouTube videos on what I need to speed up that process I bought another laptop that uploads WAY faster!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a Travel Advisor. If you’re looking someone to book personal or group trips contact me! I lead a successful group trip to Dubai in 2023 and I’m planning another group trip to one of my favorite destinations in the world Cape Town, South Africa in October. All my family and friends know me as the guy who’s been “everywhere” so when there’s a travel question I’m their number travel guru.
Before all of the international travel, I was traveling domestically as a Pro Wrestler, yes I know I don’t look your conventional Professional Wrestler but that’s where my travel truly began. I still get in the ring occasionally to this day!

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I split my time between Myrtle Beach and Orlando and I LOVE the small beach town vibe here. It’s a nice getaway from the theme parks and busy city life in Orlando everything is way more relaxed.
My ONLY dislike is small but I can see it being resolved in the coming years is the fact that there’s no nonstop flights westward! Not just to Dallas but further West like Las Vegas. There is seasonal, once a week service to Denver but a daily flight further West would be amazing!
