Meet Shanise Greenfield of Greenfield Law Firm, LLC.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shanise Greenfield.

Hi Shanise, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
Absolutely. I was born and raised in the Bronx, New York. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in English from Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. After graduating, I began my professional journey as a Juvenile Probation Officer in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, where I worked for three and a half years before deciding to pursue a career in law. I went on to earn my Juris Doctor from the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University in Long Island, New York.
Shortly after graduating, I began my legal career at the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office, focusing on Domestic Violence cases. That experience ignited a deep passion for advocating on behalf of victims of abuse—a commitment that has guided my career ever since.
In 2018, I relocated to South Carolina and began working as the Legal Program Manager at Safe Harbor, where I developed their legal program to support clients in obtaining Orders of Protection, Restraining Orders, and other Family Court remedies. After a year and a half, I decided to open my own firm, and in February 2020—at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic—I founded The Greenfield Law Firm, LLC.
Now in our fifth year, the firm focuses exclusively on Family Court matters, including divorce, separation, custody, child support, and cases involving domestic violence. I am also a Guardian ad Litem, appointed by the court to represent the best interests of children, as well as a trained Family Court Mediator. I am truly passionate about my work and grateful for the opportunity to make a difference in my community every day.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road? If not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has certainly not been a smooth road. Starting my own firm as a solo practitioner was already a major undertaking—but doing so during the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic added an entirely new layer of difficulty. At the time, I was also navigating life with a newborn and a five-year-old, while simultaneously learning to run a virtual law practice from home.
Despite the challenges, I remained committed to serving my clients and building my practice. That period taught me resilience, adaptability, and the importance of perseverance. Looking back, I am proud of how far I’ve come and grateful for the lessons I learned along the way.

Thanks for sharing that. Can you tell us more about your business?

The Greenfield Law Firm, LLC is a litigation-focused firm based in Greenville, South Carolina. I operate as a solo practitioner with the support of two dedicated staff members. Our practice areas include divorce, separation, custody, child support, victims’ rights, and domestic abuse cases – orders of protection, restraining orders, and permanent restraining orders.
What truly sets my firm apart is our unwavering commitment to survivors of domestic violence. I have extensive experience in this area and have developed a reputation for taking on challenging cases that many attorneys shy away from. In fact, one agency I work with has shared that I’ve handled more domestic violence-related cases than any other attorney in the state—a distinction I take great pride in. I’m also very experienced in handling high conflict cases, many which have narcissistic abuse components involved. But I am always up for the challenge.
I’ve successfully litigated the vast majority of those cases, and I bring that same level of diligence, empathy, and strategic advocacy to every client I represent. Whether someone needs a fierce courtroom advocate or a compassionate guide, I am there for them every step of the way.
