Today we’d like to introduce you to Thais Brush.
Hi Thais, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
The Greenery Florist was founded in 1978 by Patricia Nimocks. Patricia successfully operated the business for 47 years and the business was just sold in January 2025 to me, Thais Brush. I was born and raised in Brazil and have lived in the US for 20 years. My husband Dagan and I moved to Charleston in July of 2024 and renovated an 1800s house Downtown where we currently live. I lived in Michigan and New Jersey prior to moving to Charleston and spent 2 decades working for large corporations. I worked for Bloomberg L.P. in New Jersey, BAE Systems in Michigan, and MSC in Charleston. I decided that I was ready to do something different and start my own business. I’m not a florist, but my love for plants and flowers gave me the idea that I could be happy working with flowers and making people smile. When The Greenery came up for sale, I jumped into the opportunity to continue a business that have been an important part of Downtown Charleston for almost five decades. I am fortunate enough to have Tricia (the former owner) as part of our team as our floral designer. I can say that I am an Entrepeneur and I’m a florist in training and having Tricia’s guidance and her expertise is priceless. The Greenery Florist provides flower delivery to the Charleston area, as well as small events such as bridal and baby showers, weddings, and corporate events. We do have a physical store as well as an online store. We are in the process of relocating to a different building Downtown in the next 6 months.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The business did well enough under Patricia’s ownership that it survived for 47 years. I just bought it in January, so I don’t have much to say about it at the moment. My hope is to grow the business by expanding the services we offer. We are also relocation in June to a new place in the peninsula.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
The Greenery Florist was founded in 1978 by Patricia Nimocks. I (Thais Brush) acquired the business in January 2025 and Patricia Nimocks continues to work with us as a floral designer.
The Greenery is a florist with a physical and online store. We provide flower delivery for the Great Charleston area. We also design flower arrangements for small events such as bridal and baby shower, small wedding and corporate events. We are known for providing great customer service and fast delivery.
The Greenery is an example of a woman owned business that successfully survived for 47 years and now switched hands, but it continues to be woman owned small local business.
What sets The Greenery apart from other florists is that we pride ourselves for providing not only quality of our product but great customer service. It has been the most important thing for Tricia for 47 years and it continues to be for me now and in the future. We are a small local business, proudly own by a woman.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Great customer service
