Today we’d like to introduce you to Lex Paige
Hi Lex, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
In 2019 I decided I wanted to start a party planning & event decor business on the side of my full time job, I chose the most unfortunate time because a few months later Covid shut the world of events down. So, I started pursuing other business ventures & kept my love of balloons & parties in my back pocket. For the last few years I’ve just helped friends, family, & coworkers with their celebrations for the fun of it, knowing “one day” I’d love to explore this avenue again. In late 2024 I took the leap to officially start Lex Does Decor & I’m figuring it all out day by day because there was never going to be a “perfect time” to start. I’ve had the honor of helping so many celebrations come to life over the last few months & I’m so grateful!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Well, Covid for starters haha. What good is a party planning business if you can’t be within 6 feet of each other? Other than obstacles that were completely out of my control, I’d say another huge struggle is the game of comparison. There are already so many amazing, talented balloon artists in Charleston & it can be super nerve wracking to step into such an established industry. I’m a firm believer there’s plenty of room for everyone, coming from a mentoring background with my marketing business, & took the leap just hoping the Charleston event industry would do the same for me, & I’ve felt nothing but welcomed by the vendors I’ve had the pleasure of crossing paths with!

Lex Does Decor is a party planning, decor, & balloon artistry business. Most often my services are booked for balloon arches & creations! I’m most proud of my installs that have allowed me to push creative boundaries, try new structures, & as bad as they were, I’m proud of my very first creations for getting this entire thing started!
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up & all through my 20’s I’ve had an entrepreneurial spirit & when I get the idea or set a goal for something there’s almost nothing that will stop me from accomplishing it. I played field hockey all through middle and high school, started playing string instruments in kindergarten, & was always doing the extra credit & projects in art class.
