Today we’d like to introduce you to Haley Ouzts
Hi Haley, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’m afraid that most of my answers will revolve around my talented, smart, and incredible Mother, Joree Ouzts. I began in the promotional product world at a very young age… My mom has been in this world for 30+ years and started working in the industry because of a referral. A friend told her she would thrive in sales because of how talkative/social she is, and fortunately for us all, she took the advice to heart. Joree started her company right before the recession, and there were a lot of opinions on a woman-owned business at that time. She was told by people in her life that she would fail and not be a success going out on her own, but thankfully, the voices of those who loved and supported her stood out the most. She blocked out the negative noise and did it anyway. Twenty years later (we celebrated twenty years in February 2025), our family-driven synergy is stronger than ever, with my brother, my mom, and me working together. We’re also incredibly fortunate to have an amazing work family and to continue growing and evolving every day. I never thought I would want to do promotional product sales specifically, but after an attempt at business development in the IT world, I realized that I do love sales, but I need to love what I’m selling to succeed. I started working for Promotions Unlimited officially in 2018. I did production, ordering, scheduling, assisting, stocking, etc. for a large well-known account we acquired in 2018, and after 2 years of that type of work, I decided I had learned enough to begin in sales. I have been selling my butt off ever since, and it turns out, I’m decent at it.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Working for a family-owned company has been both a privilege and a challenge. While it could be assumed that working for my Mother comes with automatic advantages, in reality, it has meant feeling a need to work harder to prove myself. I faced some doubt and skepticism when I started sales because I do not have the same attributes and strengths as my Mom. We have a lot of similarities, but are also very different… I didn’t often show it at the beginning, but some insecurities and pressures came from working for a family-owned company and feeling like I needed to do things the way my Mom had. Over time, those feelings have disappeared entirely. I love what I do, and I love to work with my Family, my work family included.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Promotions Unlimited LLC?
I am the General Manager of Promotions Unlimited and a Promotional Product Consultant/Sales rep.
I am known for getting my customers top-of-the-line promotional products to brand their businesses. What sets me apart is my speed, my knowledge, our ability to run production in-house, and our connections throughout the industry and the Upstate of SC.
Being a WBENC-Certified Company is a significant point of pride for me because it represents more than just a certification to us- it is an honor to be a part of a network that supports and uplifts women entrepreneurs and I take great pride in my Mother’s accomplishments as a business owner of 20 years.
I am very proud of our dedication to South Carolina and serving our home state.
Any big plans?
As a sales rep, my immediate focus is on year-over-year growth in my sales. But, where the overall company is concerned, I am interested in expanding our marketing efforts, creating a stronger social media presence, working on sustainability, continually updating our website, and giving back to our community. As far as big changes, those are TBD for now.
