Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina St Clair
Hi Christina, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have been in healthcare since 2011, since graduating from Salisbury University with my first degree. After moving to South Carolina, I decided to return to school to pursue a degree in nursing, with plans to continue on to become a nurse practitioner. As a nurse, I worked primarily in the intensive care unit. Upon graduating from nurse practitioner school, I began working in primary care during the week and worked as a hospitalist a few weekends a month. I have always been intrigued by medicine, but always had a very holistic view and approach to my care. I began using these techniques on myself, my husband, and our children and noticed a significant improvement in our health as a whole. I decided to take a course to further my knowledge of Functional Medicine and from there, knew this was what I wanted to do. I wanted to help others redefine their health using integrative techniques-not relying on medications. People are so much more than a number on a scale, or a waist measurement, or a lab result. They deserve individualized care with extended face-to-face time with their provider. Enter the beginning of Palmetto Integrative Medicine. Through hard work and prayer, I successfully launched this company in February of 2025. Since opening, I have been able to assist others in optimizing their health and their overall quality of life. This is an answered prayer, and I am so grateful to have the opportunity to serve others in this way. I am optimistic for what the future holds!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I have never been a “businesswoman” per say. I took a few business classes in college, and knew pretty quickly that it was not for me. I think figuring out how to become a business owner has been the biggest challenge for me.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a board-certified nurse practitioner and I also hold a certification from the Institute of Functional Medicine as a functional medicine practitioner. I individualize care for others and develop a plan of care that is ideal for them and their goals. I believe my calling is to serve others, and I have found I am able to do so through offering these services. Clients deserve for their provider to be someone they are comfortable with and who has their best interest in mind, not a 5-10 minute appointment every 6 months.
I see clients from the comfort of their homes via telemedicine. I ensure face-to-face encounters to better get to know my clients. Sometimes, if they are local, I meet with them at a place of their choosing!
I treat my clients as if they are my family. I look beyond any medical diagnosis or lab value. I work with my clients to prevent and treat chronic disease. I am also a certified personal trainer through the ISSA and offer personal training plans to further their care.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I have always been a bit of a risk taker. I have a very innovative mind and always love a challenge. I believe that life sometimes appears to give us challenges we cannot handle, and these are my favorite. My faith is very important to me and I do believe that God sets these challenges up for us to prove to us that we are so much more than what we think.
I am a mom and a wife. My husband and I have three young children who are active in sports, church, and school. We are always on the go and balancing life and work has always been a priority for me. Opening this business was a big risk as we did not know if it would be successful or not. I am blessed that this has worked in our favor, and now I am meeting and treating several people from the community. It was a risk worth taking!
