Today we’d like to introduce you to Stacey Weismann
Hi Stacey, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My name is Stacey and I am the founder of Millie Lynn Boutique, which I started six years ago (a few years after graduation). I majored in Supply Chain and Information Systems at Penn State University and worked for both Mars, Inc. and Kraft Heinz after graduation. While I enjoyed my time in the corporate world, I eventually realized I was meant for something more fulfilling. So, I took a leap of faith, left my corporate job, and decided to start my own business. Fast forward to today, I now have two brick-and-mortar locations in Charleston and Mount Pleasant, South Carolina.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road the entire six years. There have been several challenges that were completely out of my control, like having to close our storefronts during COVID and dealing with multiple hurricanes. Those were particularly stressful times because I worried about being able to continue paying rent and, of course, the fear of the storefront being damaged. On a day-to-day basis, there are various small bumps in the road, making sure we have the right inventory for our customers and constantly innovating and pivoting to stay relevant in the market. But with every challenge, I’ve learned valuable lessons, and it’s all part of the journey toward growth and success.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Millie Lynn Boutique is a women’s clothing store specializing in girly, fun clothing and accessories, we love bows, ruffles and floral. We’re proud to feature a lot of local brands, which helps us stay connected to the Charleston community that we love. One of the things that sets us apart is our commitment to creating a welcoming and fun shopping experience for our customers. I’m in the store almost every day, interacting with our clients.
We’re known for our curated selection that combines fun, stylish pieces with a strong local presence, and last year, we were honored to be voted Best Boutique in Charleston by the Charleston City Paper, which I’m incredibly proud of. At the heart of Millie Lynn Boutique is a focus on both quality fashion and fostering a sense of community.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I lean heavily on getting advice from the people around me. My family has been an invaluable resource for support and guidance as I navigate the challenges of running the business. I also converse with the girls who work with me, picking their brains in order to improve the store for our customers. Some of my favorite apps I use for the business are Canva, Tezza, Instagram and Tik Tok.
