Conversations with Hollie Gatewood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hollie Gatewood

Hi Hollie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Our story began not long ago when I was walking around an event. I saw a lady’s flower business and took inspiration. i thought it was an amazing idea and I wanted to create my own! I was so interested by all the vibrant colors and the power to create my own unique floral arrangements. I realized how much joy they brought to people and thought, “Why not share this joy with others?” That’s when the idea for my flower cart business was born.

I began by researching the floral industry, learning about different types of flowers, and understanding what customers wanted. Me and my husband built our cart from scratch and painted it to match the vibe of our company. We filled it with an assortment of fresh blooms in different buckets to bring to events. We hope to set up shop at local events and markets, to create beautiful arrangements that would catch people’s eyes. For now, we’ve been selling countless bouquets for holidays and other events. Social media has become my best friend; I use platforms like Instagram and Facebook to showcase my work, sharing behind-the-scenes glimpses of my process and engaging with my growing community.

Through hard work and determination, our flower cart business has started to
flourish. Ive been working on collaborating with local businesses, participating in community events, and i’ve even started offering workshops to teach others about flower arranging. Today, I’m proud to say that my flower cart is not just a business but a beloved part of the community, spreading joy one bouquet at a time.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. One of the biggest struggles I faced was gaining social traction. In the beginning, I poured my heart into creating beautiful arrangements and posting them online, but it felt like I wasn’t getting far. I struggled to get likes, comments, and shares when we first began, which made it tough to attract new customers.

I realized I needed to be more strategic about my marketing. I started engaging with my audience more, responding to comments, and posting more engaging videos and questions. Slowly, i’ve began to see an increase in engagement. However, even when my social media started to pick up, converting that traction into actual sales was another hurdle. I had to experiment with not only selling but also offering delivery services near different holidays and events to find what resonated with my customers. It was a challenging journey, but each struggle taught me valuable lessons about resilience and creativity in business.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Our business specializes in creating unique, custom floral arrangements that cater to various occasions, from weddings to everyday celebrations. We’re known for my attention to detail and the ability to blend garden fresh flowers and textures to create stunning displays that set us apart from other typical arrangements. We have a commitment to sourcing locally grown flowers whenever possible, which not only supports local farmers and growers but also ensures that my arrangements are fresh and vibrant.

I take immense pride in the relationships I’ve built with my customers and the community. Seeing the joy on someone’s face when they receive a bouquet I’ve crafted is incredibly rewarding. Additionally, I love sharing my passion for flowers through workshops and events, helping others discover the beauty of floral design. It’s this personal touch and dedication to quality that I believe makes my flower business stand out.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
People can work with me in a variety of ways! If you’re interested in collaborating, I would love partnering with local businesses for events or pop-up shops where we can showcase our products together. Additionally, I offer custom floral arrangements for special occasions, so anyone looking to brighten up their event can reach out to place an order.

Support can also come from the community by attending my workshops or events, where I will teach floral design and share tips on arranging flowers. Sharing my social media posts or spreading the word about my flower cart business to friends and family is another great way to help me grow. Every bit of support makes a difference and helps me continue to spread joy through flowers!
