Today we’d like to introduce you to Debbi Moore.
Hi Debbi, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
This is a favorite story to tell. We have four daughters. And in 2017, one of our daughters was getting married. Her one request was that every wedding guest have a different floral vintage china dinner plate. We were serving family style at each table and she wanted each table to be similar but different. We had one year to find 450 different floral vintage china dinner plates. But with that search, we ended up owning many sets of dishes. So, after the wedding, we began to rent these beautiful plates to small events like tea parties, bridal showers and baby showers. In 2019, we were invited to participate in a wedding bridal show; and Something Borrowed launched. And we haven’t looked back since. We continue to add to our stock and make all the brides dreams come true.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Some of the challenges we continue to face are storage and replacements. As our stock grows, our storage ability needs to grow as well. We currently keep all of our dishes, goblets, flatware and other tablescape items on our property in a 40 foot shipping container. We stay very organized but space can be an issue. The other big challenge is replacing broken pieces. Something gets broken at every event, that is a given. Sometimes, we break dishes and sometimes event guests break the dishes. So learning how to compensate for this loss and discovering how to replace has taken some trial and errors moments.
We are still growing, this is not our full time employment. But as we grow, we are learning how to balance both!
We’ve been impressed with Something Borrowed Tablescapes, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At Something Borrowed Tablescapes, we offer a large variety of vintage dishes – most are out of production, beautiful and colorful goblets, flatware and many other tablescape items. Our stock is curated to fit any event or theme. All of our dishes have a story to keep alive! We have many sets that have been donated, as they were unwanted by family members. I count this a huge honor to be trusted with family heirlooms. Our dishes create beautiful table top designs and they are story tellers and conversation starters. The patterns and colors seem endless which makes each table we set unique and memorable.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
Collaboration begins with networking. We have been able to make great connections and friends with wedding venues, wedding planners and other wedding vendors. It is a tremendous blessing to have these connections in the wedding industry. This close knit community of vendors support and encourage one another along the way. And of course, my brides are fabulous and give excellent reviews! But the greatest gift from my brides are their referrals! And the best way to support us is by following us on Instagram and sharing any post that you love!
