Community Highlights: Meet Kailey Roberts of Batch & Butter Bakery

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kailey Roberts

Hi Kailey, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
When Batch & Butter started, I was a stay at home mom. I found myself wanting to do more for my family, but I didn’t want to miss out on my children’s childhood.
Baking has always been a passion of mine and has been something I have done for as long as I can remember. I am not really sure when this passion began, but I’d imagine it was as soon as I could be trusted with an oven!

With an outpour of love & support from family and friends, my passion blossomed into a flourishing business in 2022.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
We have grown exponentially in a way I would have never imagined- but not without some obstacles along the way.

We recently lost our brick and mortar location just weeks before opening due to our landlord wanting to raise the rent. Instead of offering it to us at a higher rate, they decided to essentially kick us out without warning after we poured everything we had into their building.
We felt awful because the community was so excited for something new!
It was a very unfortunate situation, due to no fault of our own, but we decided to keep pushing!

It turned out to be a blessing in disguise, and we know God has bigger plans for us!!
The community has backed us so immensely & shown us so much love. We are so appreciative of the support we recieved in such a difficult time.
It was very emotional for me-especially with me being pregnant at the time!
I felt like I was watching my dream crumble. I would not have made it through without the kind words and positivity we recieved from the public, our clients, friends, and family.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are a home based bakery based in Aynor, SC.
We specialize mostly in custom work, including decorative sugar cookies, cake pops, cakes, and cupcakes.
We believe that every occasion should be celebrated, no matter how big or small.

My favorite part of my profession is getting to see my clients’ families grow, being a small part of their celebrations and successes, and bringing smiles to their faces.
I have some clients that have been with me from their weddings to baby showers to 1st, 2nd and 3rd birthdays. It brings me so much joy that they choose Batch & Butter to continue to be a part of their milestones.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My husband Blake is my biggest supporter. He is there for every wild new idea I have & he always helps to bring it to life!
He is constantly encouraging me & reminding me that I “always make it happen” no matter what.
He is even occasionally in the kitchen, helping me with batches of batter or dough on super busy weeks. I wouldn’t be where I am today without his love & support.

I do have very supportive family & friends as well. Wether it be a share on social media or a recommendation to a friend, they are always sending people my way & constantly supporting me & I’m so thankful for that!

I am also extremely thankful for my clients. Like I mentioned before, I have been a small part of many of their milestones & I’m so blessed that they continue to allow me to have a small role in their special celebrations. I have so much gratitude for each and every one of them!
