Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Reed
Chris , we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My name is Chris Reed and I am a working musician based out of Columbia, SC. I started my career full time in August, 2021. Since then, I have performed for the Icehouse Amphitheatre, ColaJazz Fest 2022, The Koger Center, Newberry Opera House, Lexington Two Performing Arts Center, and WISTV. I also play for nursing homes and retirement communities as well as many bars and restaurants around the Midlands. I thoroughly enjoy the community of musicians in Columbia and am excited to excel further in our scene!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There have been many obstacles along the way. Whether it be cancellations from double bookings/weather or finding out I developed allergies in my 30’s while pushing through having a sore throat every week for 2 years, there have been challenges. I also coordinate booking schedules with multiple musicians for multiple venues and keeping track of everything can be overwhelming at times but, it’s worth it.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a guitarist/singer who occasionally plays harmonica, piano, bass, and drums but, I’m a father first. My daughter’s name is Natalie Jane and she’s who I am most proud of.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Something that surprises people the most is how introverted I actually am offstage. I enjoy quiet and solitude though my stage presence can be quite loud and energetic.
