Exploring Life & Business with Kaitlyn Vann Bean of Rise Fitness + Wellnes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaitlyn Vann Bean

Hi Kaitlyn, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I began taking Pilates in 2007 when it was recommended to me as a way to manage my anxiety. I quickly fell in love with how the movement practice made me feel mentally and physically, and I knew I wanted to share it with others. Unfortunately, life got in the way and it wasn’t until 2018 that I was able to begin my formal Pilates Instructor Training. I completed my Comprehensive Pilates Training in 2020 and opened my first studio, focused primarily on one-on-one training. In 2022, I opened Rise Fitness + Wellness, which offers Pilates instruction in small group classes and one-on-one training.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Owning my own Pilates studio has presented a variety of challenges along the way. I opened my studio because I have a passion for sharing Pilates with others; I definitely don’t have a passion for marketing, developing procedures, managing financials, and everything else that comes with owning a business. However, I’ve been fortunate to have many people support me along the way, including friends who have unexpected skill sets and other small business owners who’ve helped me learn from their own experiences.
Each day presents a new surprise, but knowing that it’s all in service of living my dream makes every challenge worth it.

We’ve been impressed with Rise Fitness + Wellnes, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Blending Pilates with elements of weight lifting, interval training, and other traditional exercise, Rise Fitness + Wellness offers small group classes and one-on-one private training. We see ourselves as a community as well as a fitness studio, so you can expect a welcoming atmosphere with classes that adjust to meet your specific needs, even as they vary from day to day. Our goal is building better bodies for life, so we focus on functional fitness that will help you live your best life at every age and stage.
We offer several flexible membership options, from monthly recurring memberships to class and private training packages. We even offer a package specifically for those looking to try us out! We don’t have any minimum-commitment for our recurring memberships and we only require 30 days’ notice before your next billing cycle to cancel.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
I was a Girl Scout growing up, and I recently reminisced with my older sister about summers at Girl Scout Camp. I learned so much in this organization, and I have incredibly fond memories of my summers at Camp Hazelwood.
