Meet Mary Wilson of Moncks Corner

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mary Wilson

Hi Mary, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my business years ago as a caterer, which eventually involved into decorating an event planning. In 2013, the opportunity was given to create a venue in the town of Moncks Corner. Taking a 1940 home and turning it into my dream. The Arch was born and crated over the next 10 years. The end of 2024, the property was sold. After working with my team for so many years, we decided our love for weddings could not stop with the selling of the venue. we decided to stay together and now the A-Team, goes to venues in South Carolina, and surrounding areas, planning, creating florals and making dreams come to life!
Our team now consist of Wedding Planner, Month of Coordinator, florals and design and officiant.
With the many years that we worked at the venue and in the industry, we have local connections with the best photographers DJs and caterers in the area.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Any business has its bumps, mine is no exception! I’ve had my share up bumps and ups and downs!! Happiness, meeting their expectations, staying in budget and being able to stay in a very competitive industry.
There have been times when the stress made me question whether I should keep going.
Balancing every detail is like a high-stakes juggling act, and yes, there have been moments when I wanted to give up. But then, I see the sparkle in a couple’s eyes, the joy on their faces, and I remember why I chose this path.
It’s that passion and love for what I do that keeps me pushing forward, making every struggle and every bump in the road completely worthwhile.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am the proud owner of The A-Team Event Planning. We specialize in floral design, unique event styling, and custom creations tailored to our clients’ visions. We also provide expert wedding and event planning, ensuring every detail is flawlessly executed.

I’m known for running a tight ship, especially when it comes the ceremony, there are no do-overs—you’re handling someone’s dream, a moment they’ve envisioned for a long time. My team and I take that responsibility seriously, ensuring everything runs smoothly and seamlessly.

What am I most proud of? Creating my dream venue, running it successfully, and then transitioning into this next chapter with my incredible team. Selling The Arch was the end of an era, but keeping The A-Team together and continuing to do what we love—wedding planning, event coordination, and floral design—is what makes me the proudest.

What sets me apart? That’s a tough question because so many in this industry share a deep passion for what they do. For me, it’s about turning dreams into reality with precision, dedication, and heart. My goal is to ensure that every couple’s day unfolds exactly as they envisioned—beautiful, seamless, and unforgettable.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is that you can’t please everyone—no matter how much effort you put in. Even when you give 100%, there will always be someone who sees things differently. And one must learn that’s it’s okay.

I’ve also learned that time is one of the most valuable things we have. Businesses come and go, but family and friends are what truly matter. Success is important, but so is balance. Success without family and friends is nothing. Dedicate the time needed to build something great, but never at the expense of the people who make life meaningful. Life is too short not to cherish both.
