Today we’d like to introduce you to Imani Peterkin
Imani, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey into entrepreneurship started out of necessity and passion. I launched what was originally called Peterkin Consulting & Co. as a way to provide virtual assistance and business operations support to entrepreneurs and small businesses. As a mom, I needed flexibility—something that traditional jobs just didn’t offer. I knew there were other moms and business owners out there struggling to balance it all, and I wanted to create a solution that helped them reclaim their time while running efficient, thriving businesses.
Over time, my vision grew, and so did my impact. I realized I wasn’t just offering services—I was transforming the way entrepreneurs, especially moms, structured their businesses. That’s when The BOLD Effect Consulting was born. The rebrand wasn’t just about a new name; it was about embracing the bold, innovative, and strategic approach I bring to business consulting. My mission now is to help busy entrepreneurs, particularly moms, build businesses with smart systems, optimized workflows, and confident delegation so they can thrive without burnout.
Today, The BOLD Effect Consulting is more than a business—it’s a movement. I’m passionate about helping other moms in business create success on their own terms, without sacrificing family or self-care. And this is just the beginning!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Absolutely not! The road has been anything but smooth. Stepping out on faith to build this business while balancing life has been one of the biggest challenges I’ve faced. When I first started, I had one child, and even then, juggling motherhood and entrepreneurship was tough. Since then, my family has grown—from one child to three—while also managing marriage, finishing grad school, and completely rebranding my business. There were times I questioned if I could handle it all, moments where exhaustion and doubt crept in.
But through every struggle, I’ve learned resilience. I’ve learned that success isn’t about having a perfect journey—it’s about pushing through, making adjustments, and giving yourself grace. Every challenge has taught me something valuable, whether it was how to build better systems, set stronger boundaries, or lean into faith when I felt overwhelmed.
Looking back, I wouldn’t change a thing. The struggles have shaped me, my business, and my mission. Now, I’m not just running a company—I’m creating a movement for moms in business who need the same support I once did. If I can do it, so can they, and that is what keeps me going!
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At The BOLD Effect Consulting, we’re not just another consulting firm—we’re a movement. We specialize in business operations, leadership, and development, helping entrepreneurs—especially moms in business—streamline their operations, implement smart systems, and confidently delegate so they can scale without burnout. We offer operations management, virtual assistance, project management, and social media management services, all designed to help business owners reclaim their time and run their businesses more efficiently.
What sets us apart? We bring boldness, strategy, and innovation to business consulting. I understand firsthand the challenges of balancing business, family, and personal growth, and that’s why we don’t just offer services—we provide solutions that truly work for busy entrepreneurs. I’m most proud of the fact that our brand is personable, bubbly, but professional, and that we are redefining what consulting looks like for women—especially moms—who want to thrive in business without sacrificing their well-being.
One of the biggest things I want readers to know is that we’re building something bigger than just a consulting firm. Our BOLD Moms, BOLD moves Network is in the works—an empowering community that will offer resources, support, and real conversations for moms balancing life and business. Our long-term vision is to create mom-friendly coworking hubs, where virtual assistants can work while having childcare support, removing barriers to employment for moms who want to work remotely.
At The BOLD Effect Consulting, we don’t believe in playing small. We believe in stepping into boldness, reclaiming time, and building businesses that work for you—not the other way around. If you’re ready to take your business to the next level, we’re here to make that happen!
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
Absolutely. The COVID-19 crisis was a major turning point for me, both personally and professionally. One of the biggest lessons I learned was the importance of adaptability. The world shifted overnight, and businesses that weren’t prepared to pivot struggled. It reinforced for me how critical it is to have strong systems in place—whether in business or life—so that when unexpected challenges arise, you’re not left scrambling.
As a mom, COVID also taught me the value of time and intentionality. With everything shutting down, I had to navigate homeschooling, running a business, and maintaining my own mental and emotional well-being—all at the same time. It forced me to reevaluate what truly mattered and to create better boundaries, not just in business but in life.
From a business perspective, the pandemic highlighted the growing demand for virtual assistance and operational efficiency. So many business owners suddenly needed help transitioning to remote work, automating processes, and managing day-to-day operations in a new way. That’s when I really started refining my services to provide solutions that would help businesses stay organized, efficient, and prepared for anything.
COVID-19 was a challenge, but it also confirmed that my work—helping business owners streamline, delegate, and scale—is needed now more than ever. It reinforced my belief that success isn’t just about growth; it’s about sustainability, flexibility, and knowing how to pivot when necessary.
