Meet Jessica Franco of Greenville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Franco

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I have a degree in elementary education and taught fifth grade in a Title One – high poverty, high minority school for two years until I had my first child. I then became a stay-at-home mother and had a second child. For the next six years I had the privilege of raising my children and starting an entrepreneurial pursuit of up-cycling china plates into cake plates and selling them in local boutiques and craft shows. It was as our family was growing that we realized that we needed a larger home. We decided to work with a friend who was a Realtor. Through the process, I found myself doing a lot of his job both out of necessity and out of the desire to learn the process. After the home was purchased, he told me, “you need to consider becoming a real estate agent, you are better at this than I am!” With the encouragement of my husband and that agent, I started real estate classes and was licensed in 2010. Needless to say, that man is no longer a Realtor!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The path towards any goal always has speed bumps along the way. I think my biggest challenges were more my own mindset and bent towards perfectionism than outward roadblocks. We are often our harshest critic. In real estate the pendulum swings often from seasons of lean to seasons of plenty and back again. In the lean seasons it’s so easy to feel “washed up” and my tendency is to feel defeated, or to magnify my insecurities rather than challenge myself to keep running the race set before me. Life, and this career, is a journey not a destination.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a real estate professional in Greenville, South Carolina specializing in residential real estate, land, and investment properties. I have extended education allowing me to also earn my broker’s license. I am most known for my desire for no one to leave my presence without feeling like they’ve found a safe place to land. That translates into real estate by making sure every client has as stress-free of a transaction as possible. To do that I am hyper organized, exceptionally communicative, and passionate about making sure the number of zeros behind your real estate deal do not dictate the level of service or care that you receive. I am most proud of the fact that everyone I work for understand that they are people and not just a paycheck. They will never be a number on a spreadsheet or a dollar in a bank account. I think the professionalism, excellence, dedication to lifelong learning, and ability to genuinely care about the journey of my client; not just from contract to close, but from first contact to as long as I’m blessed to be allowed into their life, is what sets me apart from others.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is to listen. People want to be heard, they just rarely find a place safe enough to tell their story. Create that environment and you’ll be amazed at the joy you receive by being the one honored to hold space for another’s journey.
