Today we’d like to introduce you to Shauna Sienkiewicz
Hi Shauna, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’ve been getting my own hair done since I can remember. I am a natural dirty blonde but I always loved being a bright blonde! As I got older I realized how much I loved the idea of helping other girls achieve the hair color of their dreams, so in 2021 I enrolled in the Paul Mitchell School of Charleston, for cosmetology, where I found my passion for blonding and lived-in color services. After graduating in 2022, it was finally time for me to venture into the hair world and find my place as a hairstylist and Silvia Salon and Spa was one of the first salons that came to mind. I had been getting my hair done by the owner, Silvia, since I was 18 and knew working side by side with her would be a great fit for me. I have been working here for 3 years now and have loved every second of it. I have gotten the freedom and support to find my niche in the hair world and let my creativity thrive.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There are always trials and errors with doing hair and everything is a learning experience. It takes time and dedication to really perfect your craft and learn what techniques work best. Adapting is key as every client that comes to sit in your chair will have a different hair story. Hair is not a straight and narrow path, there are so many different layers to hair theory and only time and experience can help a stylist better understand this. I am constantly learning how to mix new colors, do different cut styles, and learn new foiling methods as hair trends are ever-changing. Thankfully Silvia Salon and Spa has multiple demonstrations annually through Paul Mitchell and Hanzo to introduce new techniques and styles to us!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in blonding and lived-in color, as well as IBE extensions. Blonding has such a broad scope. My first goal is to always protect the integrity of the client’s hair. We have all heard horror stories of blonding services going wrong and it has been my goal to correct that myth. You can get to be the blonde of your dreams and keep your hair healthy! Not only does this apply to blonding, but hair extensions as well. I was tired of seeing women get extensions done improperly leaving them with damaged, broken hair. In 2022 I decided to become certified in Invisible Bead Extensions to help women who desired more length and volume, but also wanted to allow their natural hair to still thrive. This method eliminates harsh chemicals and tapes and allows your natural hair to grow like normal without feeling the weight of the weft since it is distributed throughout the hair avoiding heaviness and pressure on any particular hair follicle. I’ve seen nothing but great results with this method and I love to see the confidence it reestablishes in my clients!
