Today we’d like to introduce you to Desiree’ Williams
Hi Desiree’, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
After learning from Youtube, I started applying lash extensions on my family and friends. I studied for hours and hours. I had notebooks full of tips, tricks, best products for beginner lash artist, just all the things. I am a self starter so I ended up buying my first lash kit which was $150 and though I initially wanted to learn this skill to make money– it quickly turned into a passion. I lashed everyone I knew and worked with my head down to build my beauty brand. From certification courses to completing Esthetics school for my license, I never fell out of love with the art of lash extensions and probably never will.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it has not been a smooth road. To be honest, for the last year… I’ve contemplated getting a job. Many would be surprised to hear me say that but running a business is more than an LLC and a cute logo. Right in the middle of my career, I was diagnosed with Lupus SLE. I thought running a business was hard but it was proven harder now that I have this autoimmune disease. This changed the entire trajectory of my business. Though I was able to pivot… it still amazes me to this day how resilient I am. I decided to get my instructors license and now, I’ve fallen in love with teaching this amazing art of lash application. I’ve taught over 1200+ aspiring, new and seasoned beauty pros that delicacy of lashing. I host 1 on 1 lash courses all year and do (2) group courses — spring and fall each year. Lupus helped me discover another side of the Esthetics industry that I will forever be grateful for. I’ve taught at Cosmetology schools all over the Midlands and I’m inspired by every student I meet. Every day I show gratitude that I get to do what I love because it truly was almost ripped completely away from me.
As you know, we’re big fans of Viorè. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Viorè LLC is my beautiful business where our mission is to empower the multifaceted woman to re-asses her definition of Wellness. We achieve this through therapeutic, precision-focused beauty treatments that alleviates stress and enhance mental clarity all while inspiring meaningful wellness conversations amongst all women.
Those therapeutic services include lash extensions, facials (corrective + relaxing), body waxing and brow enhancements. I lost all of my hair going through chemo. This prompted me to create a safe space where anyone who feels like a phoenix, rising from the ashes, can grow unapologetically and effortlessly. That is what makes us (myself and spa guest) so proud of our brand and contribution to the wellness community.
At Viorè, we envision a world where embracing your inner diva is effortlessly aligned with living a poised, liberated, and empowered lifestyle. Our unwavering commitment to excellence and heartfelt service fosters a space of genuine care where every un-seen woman can become rejuvenated and inspired to embrace true Wellness in all areas of their lives.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I believe that my solution based mindset is important to my success. Reason being is, I’ve learned that harping and crying over things you cannot change will not help anyone. In business, especially with operating as B2C and B2B, it is important to be ready to pivot at any time and to also stay up to date on industry changes. I have seen great increase in my business overall by learning how and when to move during certain situations.
