Today we’d like to introduce you to Altanya Coaxum
Hi Altanya, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
The Story Behind The Pinkalicious House:
In 2019, after my mother passed away, I couldn’t stay at home with my dad—it just wasn’t the same without her. I knew I didn’t want to rent, so I went house hunting, determined to find something downtown that I could truly make my own. After a few misses, I stumbled upon this house. While I wasn’t sold initially, I brought my dad (a contractor) to take a look. I turned to him and said, “I’m buying this, but I need your help to gut it out!”
Four months later, the renovations were done. But something was missing—it was a grey, lifeless ice box. In Spring 2022, fresh from a trip to Switzerland, I had an idea: “Let’s turn it into Barbie’s tiny house!” I started painting everything pink, added shutters and flower boxes, and suddenly, the house radiated happiness.
Once the outside was done, people stopped to admire it. That’s when my niece and I decided to name it “The Pinkalicious House.” From there, I began tackling interior DIY projects—painting walls, adding wallpaper, changing light fixtures—and filming them for Instagram. Now, my page is a mix of travel, DIY, product reviews, and everything pink and girly.
I can’t wait for Spring to plant more flowers and ride my pink bike all around the city. The Pinkalicious House is more than a home—it’s a reflection of my creativity and the joy I want to bring to life.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Transforming The Pinkalicious House has been an adventure full of surprises! Renovating an older home often means tackling quirks, and I faced my fair share.
The bathroom was upgraded twice—first in 2021, then again in 2025 after the initial renovation caused unexpected chaos. A contractor’s mistake led to a leak that destroyed the underlayment in both the bathroom and laundry room. It all had to be gutted, and I ended up spending three weeks in a hotel while the repairs were completed.
In May 2024, the AC unit finally called it quits, and replacing it became a top priority. Just a month later, I had to upgrade the gutters as well.
It’s been a bumpy ride, but after every challenge, I’ve found my sunshine. These moments of chaos have only made The Pinkalicious House more meaningful—a true reflection of resilience, creativity, and the joy of turning setbacks into something beautiful.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
By day, I’m behind a desk, tracking and crunching numbers. But my true passion comes to life in all things creative—whether it’s hair, cosmetics, or DIY projects. I have a natural talent for turning something plain into a bold, eye-catching creation, and I’m driven by the joy of helping women feel confident through my cosmetic expertise. Whether styling a new look or revamping a space, I love bringing beauty and flair to everything I touch.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
My childhood was filled with so many beautiful memories. I would have to say I believe I was turning maybe five and I don’t remember where we were coming from but it was my birthday and my parents had a big bouquet of balloons delivered to the house. Wow when I pulled up in the driveway with my mom I saw the balloons. Immediately jumped out the car to get them off the porch. Granted I was gonna have a birthday party that weekend a girl still needed balloons! Which probably explains why I love to decorate and I love birthdays so much..
