Today we’d like to introduce you to Beth Nettles
Hi Beth, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
KreweCar was born from a very real frustration. As a mom, traveling with young children, I was constantly battling the inconvenience of lugging heavy car seats and worrying about the safety of my kids in unfamiliar rideshare vehicles. I would often rent a car to ensure my kids had the proper car seats – a hassle that added time, stress and costs. Most times the rental car company would not have the car seat I reserved, leaving me to carry around my own. I realized that other families shared the same struggles, so KreweCar was created to offer a solution.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been anything but smooth. When I first had the idea for KreweCar, I could already envision how it would revolutionize the travel experience for parents. Having struggled with the challenges of flying with kids, dealing with rented car seats that were often dirty or unsafe, I felt there had to be a better solution.
After years of planning, research, and an unwavering belief in the idea, I received the necessary permits to launch KreweCar in January of 2020. The idea was finally becoming a reality!
Then, in March 2020, COVID-19 hit.
The world was upended. Travel came to a screeching halt. Flights were grounded. Highways empty. The entire transportation industry was paralyzed. As businesses closed and uncertainty loomed large, I had to decide whether to give up or find a way to press forward.
I had always prided myself on my resilience and my unwavering belief that the idea behind KreweCar would eventually fill a real need in the market. So, I did what any determined founder would do: I turned inward and got to work.
I spent the early days of the pandemic honing my patience. I focused on refining the backend of the business and started building the KreweCar app. I used the quiet time to make sure the technology would be seamless and reliable when the world was ready to move again.
But it wasn’t just the technical side of the business I had to work on. The financial strain, combined with the uncertainty about the future, meant that my family had to make some difficult choices. To make ends meet, we sold our beloved home in New Orleans, leaving behind a city we love, in exchange for a more affordable life in the rural Delta area of Louisiana.
In the small town where we relocated, I didn’t have the distractions of city life. The slower pace allowed me to think, plan, and ultimately build the foundation for KreweCar to succeed in the future.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
KreweCar is a woman-owned, family-focused rideshare service designed to provide safe, reliable, and stress-free transportation for parents and caregivers traveling with children. Unlike traditional rideshare services, we provide car seats, ensuring families have a convenient and safe way to get where they need to go.
KreweCar was built with safety, convenience, and trust at its core. Our drivers are thoroughly vetted, trained to assist families, and equipped to handle the unique needs of traveling with kids. By prioritizing family-friendly service in an industry that traditionally overlooks this need, KreweCar is redefining rideshare for parents. Today, KreweCar is more than just a business—it’s a mission-driven solution that gives families the confidence to travel lighter.
KreweCar started in New Orleans, and we are very excited that we have recently added three new cities! We currently operate in Orlando, Nashville, Charleston and New Orleans.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
There are many who deserve credit. KreweCar was born from my own experiences as a mom trying to navigate travel with kids, so in many ways, my kids have been my greatest source of inspiration. But, beyond inspiring the idea, my kids have been part of this journey in the most heartfelt ways. I’ll never forget when they made me a sign the day we had our first KreweCar ride – cheering me on as I took a gigantic leap. Their unwavering belief in me and in this dream constantly reminds me of why I got started and is the push I need to keep going.
Entrepreneurship can be an isolating path at times. Having someone who believes in you makes all the difference. My husband has never questioned whether or not I can do this. He has provided help when needed and supports my dreams. KreweCar exists to help families, and it wouldn’t be possible without the love and support of mine.
