Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Gable
Hi Tiffany, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
After having my first baby, I became a full-time stay at home mom. I had been working since I was a teenager, so suddenly being at home all the time was a drastic lifestyle change. I quickly realized I needed a hobby I could do at home, so I decided to look into photography.
I was given my first “real” camera for Christmas and starting taking online classes to learn how to use it. My kids and pets became my first subjects while I learned the basics.
Once I felt comfortable with my camera, I began offering sessions to family and friends to gain experience. I invested in Photoshop and Lightroom and slowly began learning how to edit my photos as well.
I was about a year into my journey when I was asked to photograph a newborn. I didn’t know anything about the art of newborn photography, so I watched lots of online videos and bought a couple of simple wraps and props.
During that first session, I was nervous, but I loved it! I had such a great time I knew it was something I would like to pursue. So, I began investing in courses specific to newborn photography and I learned as much as I possibly could about baby safety, lighting, posing, and swaddling.
After I felt like I had learned as much as I could from the courses, I began offering newborn sessions to gain experience. I very quickly fell in love with the art and started focusing all of my effort into newborn photography.
In the beginning, I set up my sessions in my kitchen, then shortly thereafter moved into my spare bedroom. I quickly outgrew that and began renting a space while I saved up for my own studio space. After about a year of saving, my husband and I were able to purchase my studio building, which is located on our property. It has been the biggest blessing having my own private building here at my home!
Now in my 7th year of business, I have photographed over 700 newborns and have expanded my business to include babies up to their first birthday. Cake Smashes have become a favorite of mine. I love seeing so many of my former newborn clients come back to see me to celebrate their 1st birthday!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Honestly, it has been a long road. There was A LOT to learn. Being a photographer also means being a business woman, promoter, marketing specialist, social media manager and artist.
However, I was willing to learn all I needed to to make this work. I was obsessed with learning all I could about my art and how to make it successful.
Sure, there are days where I may have a difficult session-you can’t exactly tell a baby what to do. If the baby has reflux or is cluster feeding, it may mean I have a difficult session. However, at the end of the day, I LOVE my job, I love working with people and I get to do my job from home and on my own schedule. I can’t really complain!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in posed newborn photography. My clients come to me because they want beautiful portraits of their new baby. I always want my newborn portraits to look like works of art.
I strive to always listen to my clients and bring there ideas to life, and I do it in a professional and timely manner. I truly love my clients and have built relationships with so many of them, through photographing all of their babies. Watching families grow has been so awesome!
I am most proud how I have been able to provide beautiful portraits for my clients that they will cherish forever. A baby is a newborn for just a month, and as a mother of 3, I understand exactly how fleeting that time is.
How do you think about happiness?
In my personal life, nothing makes me happier than my family. I have a husband who has been so supportive of me and obviously, my 3 kids are my biggest blessings.
Professionally, the things that makes me happiest are:
1.Establishing relationships with my clients. I have so many families I have grown to love over the years! I have literally watched their kids grow up.
2.Creating art with my photography and having my clients show their love and appreciation for it. That’s the ultimate compliment.
