Hi Cristina, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Cristina was born and raised in Sao Paulo, Brazil where she was trained in Waxing and Esthetics. After working for a few years in the Greenville and Columbia markets she followed through with her goal of opening her own location. Real Brazilian Wax in the Harbison Business District in Columbia, SC.
The store was an empty space so the set-up and design was her own. After construction and permitting the doors opened 11/01/2023. Each day someone from her old location would find her and literally scream with joy as they knew they found their former esthetician. It still happens today after 14 months of business.
Since opening we have over 1750 new clients, a large portion are monthly clients. Over 320 Google reviews, all 5-Star!
Cristina employs 3 full time and 2 part time employees. Her schedule is more than 75% full 6 days a week.
Goal is to open a Lexington, SC location and grow the business in another market and to give her clients a convenient geographical option to Harbison.
Eventually buying land and building waterfront home to retire in the Caribbean.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Financially we started and built the business with our initial investment. Never having to add any additional funds. Starting out with just 2 of the 5 rooms filled with tables and equipment. We filled the rooms with new furnishings and all of the best Esthetics equipment and tables until all 5 are now fully equipped.
In addition upon opening Real Brazilian Wax we offered primarily waxing and hair removal. We haver since brought in an eye brow and lash specialist. Threading, Henna, and Full facials.
Challenges would be similar to most employers and that is finding good help that cares. We have some really skilled and professional estheticians now and hope to find a few more just like them.
Any new business will make mistakes, hopefully we learn from them and try not to duplicate.
