Today we’d like to introduce you to Tonya Love
Hi Tonya, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Tonya Love. I’m a filmmaker, a playwright, a director and an actress along with being a wife and mother of 6. It’s amazing how life is playing out. When I was a kid I was an only child and i often could be heard talking to myself while I was washing dishes or in my room and what I was really doing was acting and directing. My family would always say Tonya who are you talking to and I would respond with “myself”. I made the forks and knives talking act along with my dolls. I wrote my very first story when I was nine years old. In my teens, I wrote a lot of poems in my 20s I wrote stage plays and put on shows for the community. Now here I am writing acting and directing for the big screen.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has definitely been a challenge, especially here recently, because I moved from Illinois to South Carolina, where I knew no one and I basically have had to start over from the bottom.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Right now I am focused on filmmaking, so I’m writing predominantly for the screen. As stated before I was writing for the stage before and now God has shifted me. I have a feature film on Tubi and prime video as well as Apple TV and Roku.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
in the next 5 to 10 years, I see my work on lifetime I see me building a legacy for my children because my business is predominantly made up of my family my husband, my children and I do have a business partner. I see our company opening doors and offering opportunities for those who would otherwise not get those opportunities and for those who face barriers.
