Hi Tiffany, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I got started in this industry because, at the time, I was already established in my career, but I wanted to find a way to make extra income. I’ve always had a passion for all things beauty, but I didn’t realize how lucrative it could be. As a single mom at a young age, my main focus was going to college, securing a stable job with benefits, and taking care of my son.
I started doing eyelash extensions at home while working my full-time job in 2018. By the end of 2019, my business began growing quickly, and lashes, while popular, weren’t as mainstream as they are now. I reached a point where I couldn’t grow further working from home, and since I only had a certification at the time, I decided to go back to school and get licensed.
When COVID hit, it slowed things down for many, but it also gave me the opportunity to build my business. I didn’t intern at a salon or take the traditional route, I just decided to go for it and figure it out along the way. I opened my first salon while still working a job that paid $60,000 a year. Eventually, my business grew so much that I knew I needed to focus on it full-time. I stepped out on faith, trusting God to lead the way, and made the decision to walk away from my job.
As my first salon thrived, I realized it was time to expand and move into a larger, more fitting space for my growing business. I was blessed with an amazing team, and my business took off. I’m so grateful to provide a space where artists can work in a healthy environment, do what they love in the beauty industry, and grow together. We share techniques, support each other, and build one another up, that’s something I truly cherish.
Now, I’m also a licensed educator, and I’ve been able to combine my passion for beauty and teaching to help others pursue their dreams. This journey has been one of faith, hard work, and resilience, and I’m so thankful for where I am today.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of the biggest struggles I’ve faced is learning how to properly manage a team and finding the balance between being a leader and having personal relationships with my staff. There was a time when I became too close with some of my team members, and the lines between friendship and leadership blurred. That closeness led to a lack of respect for my role as their leader, and it caused a lot of tension and turmoil within my salon. It was a challenging time, but through prayer, reflection, and growth, I was able to overcome it. That experience taught me the importance of setting boundaries while still fostering a supportive, professional environment.
Another obstacle has been continuing to pour into people who may not always pour back into the business or share the same vision. It can be discouraging when not everyone on the team is aligned with the same goals, as it can slow progress. However, I remain committed to being the leader I’m called to be, staying true to myself, and leading by example. I’ve learned that consistency in who I am as a leader often inspires others to rise to the occasion and align with the team’s mission.
These struggles have been invaluable lessons that have shaped me into the leader I am today, and I’m so grateful to now have an incredible team that thrives in a healthy, respectful, and uplifting environment.

My business, Lush Language, is a luxury salon specializing in eyelash extensions, full-body waxing, and eyebrow services. As an educator, I invest heavily in the growth of my staff by providing ongoing education, hosting in-house training sessions, and traveling annually for advanced training. I’m incredibly proud of the growth of my brand. After being in the industry for over six years, I’ve been able to create my own lash brand that reflects everything I’ve learned and experienced. I’ve traveled nationally and internationally, attending advanced trainings and testing countless products, all to ensure I could build a brand that not only fits the needs of my community but also represents the highest quality in the industry.
My goal is for Lush Language to be recognized as one of the top lash brands in the industry, and I know that the foundation I’ve built will only get stronger from here.
