

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andy Lassiter
Hi Andy, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I wish I could say that owning a creative agency has always been a dream, but the reality is life took a few twists and turns before I went ‘all in’ on media production. At the College of Charleston, I studied Environmental Policy in grad school, but quickly realized that my passion for creative work outshined my science ambitions. I worked in a corporate marketing capacity here in Charleston, before going on my own in 2013. I was young and broke at the time, maxed out a credit card buying camera gear, and signed a lease for an amazing commercial office space on Folly Beach- the same location Keen Eye Marketing still calls home over a decade later.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Any entrepreneur will tell you that dealing with challenges is a defining feature of the lifestyle. For a small business, building a staff you can trust and a sustainable business model is a benchmark that takes many years (and a lot of late nights) to achieve. I quickly learned the importance of working with people that you really enjoy being around. After a few hiccups, I figured out a model that worked, and that pursuing the best people, training, and having the right tools is the best business investment you can make.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Keen Eye Marketing is a Charleston-based creative agency, specializing in media asset production for local businesses and high end real estate. The company was founded in 2009, and since then we’ve produced well over 10,000 unique video productions for a huge variety of clients.
We’re unique in an industry of contract labor and overseas editing, that we have a full-time staff of 12: some of the most talented producers and editors in the city. This allows Keen Eye to build meaning relationships with our clients and operate with a high degree of quality and consistency. We also have a beautiful studio space out on Folly Beach where we produce content for local brands, products and podcasts- stop by if you’re heading out to the beach!
Any big plans?
While Keen Eye was known primarily as a real estate media company, we’ve really pivoted in the last few years. We now work with many other industries and local businesses. As our productions evolve, our client base has as well. We’ve learned to ask the right questions, in order to provide media assets that are actually going to help drive business, while being efficient with time and budgets. In the coming years, we’re continuing to improve our custom production process, like signature videos and featured content, that showcase brands in a polished yet fun and authentic way.
