Today we’d like to introduce you to Jae Lucas
Hi Jae, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Jeremie Lance Lucas is the my name I born on March 13, 1995, and am the third of his immediate family originating in the United States. My paternal family originated from The West Caribbean and Queens, NY while my maternal family originates from South Carolina. I was born in Columbia,SC and was raised in Orangeburg, SC and attended Orangeburg Wilkinson High School. I was bought to Orangeburg Wilkinson High School following an expulsion from middle school and initially ain’t really not know what I wanted to do after high school. After one of my best friends opted that we formulate a musical trio (Jae Lucas, Lamontra Ham & Guttah Black) following success and rise of Travis Porter, they formed a short-lived collective under the moniker 247 which disbanded over time. I have since continued my campaign to achieve his personal creative goals within the music industry .
“Musically I got started from getting expelled from school, as funny as that sounds its really how I became immersed in the art.
I got expelled from my middle school in 8th grade and from there went to the alternative school then I got expelled from there and was recommended for expulsion from the district.. so I couldn’t really go anywhere, I was just home.
This was around December so I had six months to do nothing, but I discovered three thing in those months Hentai, Hulu and FL Studio lol.
More relevantly I studied FL studio assiduously as well as other recording softwares which led to me teaching myself have to play the keyboard in order to upload sounds via MIDI.
From then on I have developed an affinity for music, creating stories to vocalize and instrumentation and breath control.”
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Nah not really, I’ve ran through walls for as long as I can remember shit I haven’t really had any struggles as a musician … writers block maybe but no real struggles
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Im a fire fighter volunteer right now, that and a freight broker but my main goal is to be a full-time firefighter. Mainly I try to lean toward grunt work because I like the physical challenge. Im looked at as a strength archetype so i like to pride and champion myself for my physical prowess. … thats what they keep telling me anyway.
What sets me apart ? I guess .. tenacity ? Nothing honestly but if I had to pick it would be that.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
I not ashamed to say I rely on my friends and family for strength and power, with that said I’ve a myraid of mentors and supporters.
My father and brother have always made me more aware of my skills musically from the very first album I released back in 2013 on ‘Hypebeast” it was called ‘Creationist’. I never wanted to release it because I just didn’t think people wanted to hear this shit but they urged me to after a lot of convincing and pshhhhhhh people loved it .. all but the vocals on most of the tracks.. they said they were low as hell. I wasn’t the best mixer on the planet and my quality needed some tweaking but instrumentally and concept wise it was a go.
On the flipside my friends have fortified my enthusiasm to create music regularly; still even to this day. Seeing how great they are makes me want to be even greater for them.
