Conversations with Kenyetta Holmes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kenyetta Holmes

Hi Kenyetta, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Hello all, I started out just playing around giving massages to my baby brother back in 2006-2007 who was diagnosed with childhood T-Cell Lymphoma because they always made him feel a little better. He would tell me I needed to become one of those “massage people” when I looked for a new job lol. Well I was like no I’m not doing that bro lol. I needed up trying the military but didn’t make it to the third week of boot camp because I got really sick and was discharged with no option to go back in any branch, then I tried warehousing, school system jobs and a degree in psychology. After having my first child and getting him in Headstart they had a program to help single moms with school and massage was in the mix so I finally decided to just go for it because I could hear my brother’s voice saying do it. It has been one of the best decisions of my life and I wouldn’t change it for the world. I have been in spa, medical massage, and chiropractic massage and now am on the journey to build my brand! Being an momtrepreneur is my goal and life and I’m on the way to making it happen! My 4 babies and nieces and nephew are my biggest motivation in life. I have so much planned for my massage practice and can’t wait to see her bloom!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has definitely not been a smooth road trying to juggle mom life and being an entrepreneur because the kids are too priority but things are starting to level out for sure. Getting my business out there has been the biggest struggle being from a small town and not as outgoing in school as others so my circle was really small but I’m learning marketing outside of what I know which is helping me tremendously. My biggest spat of wisdom would be to never be scared to take a leap of faith, step into the unknown because u never know the blessings that would be waiting for you.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I have been a licensed massage therapist since 2016 and love every bit of it. My clients call me “Hot Hands” because no matter how cold it is my hands are always hot even at first skin contact. New clients are always waiting for that first jump from that cold touch so when they don’t get that it’s like they melt in relaxation from the warmth of my hands and the rest is history lol. I specialize in Swedish relaxation, Himilayan salt stone massage, deep tissue, pregnancy, childhood, and neuromuscular massage. I think what sets me apart from others is my hand warmth (of course lol) and my positive aura. Clients feel our energy and I only want to transfer positivity to my clients at all times. I’m most proud of what I have accomplished so far in my career because at first I didn’t think I could do it but I’m doing it and glad I did not give up.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
