Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandie Herrell
Hi Brandie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started out my career in commercial printing. Primarily catalogs for a small company in Nashville, TN. In 2020, Friesens tapped me on the shoulder and offered me a golden ticket to bring my print knowledge into the world of book manufacturing. Working alongside publishers has helped me realize my wildest dreams in printing. I’m so blessed to have a job I wake up happy to do everyday!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I don’t think anything worth building will be a smooth road the entire way. There were growing pains where I started my print career. It was a pretty toxic place to work. Then, I transitioned into a new side of printing, so there was lots to learn about new materials and book publishing in general. I have had people who did not believe in me along the way and tried to repress my growth. I’ve also had industry veterans extend kindnesses and helping hands. I’ve also had some great mentors along the road, so no complaints in the end.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I print books for a living. Namely, I am the Southeast US Account Executive for Friesens Corporation. I help 100s of publishers, museums and universities across the southeast US bring books to life every day. It is very rewarding. Friesens is most well-known for those large size, color critical, coffee table style books with all the bells and whistles. I myself am probably most well-known for my work in Christian publishing. It is my calling to partner with these publishers and bring God’s word and messages of faith and hope to life. That sets me a part. I want to make my career, faith and family one. I bring that personal and transparent approach to the table with all my clients.
What are your plans for the future?
I want to become the first female Genral Manager of Sales at Friesens Corporation. I work diligently toward this end with a tireless work ethic and great loyalty and honor to the company I work for. I believe in our employee-owned organization. I want to be a highly contributing part of the team for many years to come. Today, I feel as if my skills in customer relations and business development are strong. I think I have some years to go to gain printing and business/personal management knowledge in order to be a really effective leader in that arena. I work every day to hone those talents.
