Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My career path into the automotive industry has been anything but traditional. It all began when I joined the U.S. Marines at just 18 years old. Serving my country taught me discipline, perseverance, and a strong work ethic. After receiving an Honorable Discharge, I pursued my education at Clemson University, where I earned my Bachelor’s Degree.
Soon after graduating, I began a new chapter as a Special Agent for the U.S. Government, a role I held for over 21 years. During that time, I spent seven years in the Middle East; I learned to navigate complex challenges, a skill that would later become essential in entrepreneurship.
When the time came to retire, I knew I wasn’t ready to slow down. Fueled by a lifelong passion for cars—especially Porsches—I decided to turn that passion into a business. Almost a year ago, I opened Por4mance Motors and Detail Garage, combining my love for the automotive world with the high standards of service I’ve carried throughout my career.
What started as a dream to create a space for car enthusiasts has now grown into a hub for vehicle customization, detailing, and community-building. It’s been a rewarding journey, and I’m excited to see what lies ahead as Por4mance Motors and Detail Garage continues to grow.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Challenges? Absolutely! But I’ve learned that the most rewarding journeys are often the most challenging. One thing my career in the Marines and as a Special Agent taught me is to never quit—not on yourself, your team, or the family that depends on you. That mindset has been my anchor through every storm.
Life threw me a curveball when I adopted my brother’s special-needs child at just 11 months old. It was a complete shift in my life’s trajectory. With no insurance to cover his medical bills or therapy sessions, we faced not only a significant lifestyle adjustment but also a heavy financial burden. Every penny came out of our pocket, but his well-being was, and always will be, worth it.
As if that wasn’t enough, we later discovered that my wife has a brain tumor, a diagnosis that brought unimaginable stress and uncertainty. Yet, through it all, we kept moving forward—together. We are still navigating these stressors and trying to figure out a solution to her problem.
On top of these personal challenges, running Por4mance Motors and Detail Garage as a one-man shop has been no small feat. From doing all the physical work to managing finances, marketing, and strategic planning, the weight of running a small business falls entirely on my shoulders. But despite the struggles, I wouldn’t trade this path for anything. Every challenge has strengthened my resolve and deepened my gratitude for the opportunity to build something meaningful—not just for myself, but for my family and the community I serve.

First and foremost, I want to thank my wife and family. My wife has been my rock—always believing in me, supporting my dreams, and standing by me through every challenge. Without her unwavering encouragement, this journey wouldn’t have been possible.
Secondly, I owe a great deal of gratitude to Autometrics Motorsports. Gordon, Cory and Adam gave me the opportunity to work alongside them and learn from their expertise. Their trust in me allowed me to establish myself and grow my business, and I’m incredibly thankful for the chance to “ride their coattails,” so to speak.
Lastly, I want to recognize Matt, the owner of Apex Graphics. While we’re not officially business partners, our relationship is unique and invaluable.
