Today we’d like to introduce you to Katie Rose
Hi Katie Rose, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My photography journey started 3.5 years ago while I was in college and desperate to figure out something I was passionate about. After my freshman year of college, I realized that there was no way I could continue in the major I was in but I had zero clue where to turn. My dad was the one who suggested photography, let me use his gear, and helped me figure out Lightroom and Photoshop! If it weren’t for my Dad’s help, I would never have been able to figure out that this is my passion and start a business doing what I love
The day before sophomore year started, I changed my major to business with a photography minor. Six months later I shot my first two weddings and truly never looked back after that! Throughout my time in college, I was able to grow my business to the point where I went full-time after graduation.
Other than shooting weddings, my other passion is traveling! I have been extremely blessed to have been able to travel a lot throughout my childhood and in college. Currently, I am working on combining my love for travel and my love for shooting weddings!
One of the pillars of my journey is 1 Corinthians 10:31 – “so, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” To me, this means giving my 100% best to providing the most excellent, honest, and trustworthy service that I can for not just my clients, but for God!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
A very practical challenge I faced was starting my business while I was in college. Most semesters, I was juggling 18 credits, lots of extracurricular activities, and weekends packed with shoots and weddings. It was an incredibly demanding season, but I wasn’t willing to give anything up because I believed it would all be worth it in the end. I wanted my diploma, I wanted to experience the joy of the extracurriculars I was passionate about, and I wanted to build the business I was so excited to grow!
I poured everything I had into those college years, and while they were some of the hardest years of my life, they were also the best! The skills and resilience I developed during that time—managing pressure, staying focused, and pushing through challenges—shaped me into the person and business owner I am today. It’s an experience I know many entrepreneurs can relate to, and one that continues to inspire the way I approach my work and my life!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in digital, film, and Polaroid wedding photography, not just here in Greenville, but anywhere my clients’ stories take me! One thing I’m truly proud of is reflecting on how much I’ve grown and changed to become the person I need to be for this job. In high school, I was extremely quiet and introverted. The thought of meeting strangers for a photoshoot or spending 10 hours with people I didn’t know—let alone capturing one of the most important days of their lives—would have sent me into a panic.
But over the years, I’ve seen God work in my life, shaping me into someone who thrives on meeting new people, hearing their stories, and finding meaningful ways to connect. I’ve grown into someone who not only embraces the high-pressure environment of a wedding day but sees past it to focus on the joy, beauty, and raw emotion that make every moment worth preserving.
I believe what truly sets me apart in the wedding photography industry is the person that I am. This field is filled with incredibly talented artists who take stunning photos and passionately serve their clients. But there’s only one ‘Katie Rose,’ just as there’s only one of you!
The person God has made me to be—my eye for emotions and details, my personality, and my ability to connect with people—is uniquely mine. While I could say it’s my photos, my use of digital, film, and Polaroid, or my distinct wedding packages that make me different, I believe my greatest distinction is simply who God created me to be.
I’m passionate about capturing the raw beauty and emotion of a wedding day. I love God, I love people, and I love creating beautiful, meaningful images. It’s more than just photography for me—it’s about telling your story in a way that’s as unique and special as you are.
