Rising Stars: Meet Jacqueline (Jackie) Pitt of Elgin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jacqueline (Jackie) Pitt

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was born and raised in Eastern North Carolina. After graduating high school, I attended the UNC at Chapel Hill but completed my degree in nursing at Columbus State University (Columbus, Ga) in 1996 as we traveled with the military. I worked in a vast array of medical settings and discovered my favorite is my current role as a school nurse. In 2015, I became a licensed minister with Pure Dominion Ministries. As an entrepreneur, I have co-owned a nursing service business, Healing Hands Nursing Services. I worked in financial services as a financial coach since 2008, initially full-time, but now on a part-time basis. The founder of the Facebook group Mothers & Daughters which inspired my first book, an anthology with 6 other women titled, Mothers and Daughters: Their Story, Their Way, Only They Can Tell It, and a second anthology of similar nature. We have also started an annual Mothers & Daughters Brunch with our 5th-anniversary approaching in 5/25. Through this initiative and my non-profit organization we have given away over 4k in scholarships to a deserving senior. Founder of Reveal, Inc. (non-profit organization) that helps others reveal that which God has placed on the inside of us from the beginning (purpose) and a ministry, Mind Changing Living (MCL). In May of 2024, I along with another co-worker made history by being honored as the first school nurse to receive The Daisy Award in SC and the second in the nation. Recently on 10/12/24 (a full circle moment, considering this is our oldest daughter’s birthday in which I birthed her my senior year in high school at 17), I received my Honorary Doctorate Degree.

My husband Robert and I have been married 38 years in January, but have been doing life together for nearly 44 years! We have four beautiful daughters, Valonda, Akilah, Kanisha, and Alisha; three from our union and one bonus daughter, an awesome son-in-law, Peter, and three beautiful grandchildren, Elijah, Eliah (twins), and Elise. We lived and traveled around the world and country and have called South Carolina home since 2001.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Surely, it has not. As I previously mentioned, I was a teenage mom. I had to overcome the weight of shame, doubt, and insecurity. Growing up as a child my mom was diagnosed with manic depression. Even though there were good days, we had some that were less than good. Even still she taught me how to love people well. This life principle (LOVE) money could never buy but it had to come from GOOD GROUND.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I believe I covered this pretty well in my story, but will add a little more here. As a nurse since 1996, I have worked in many areas and will end this journey in 4 years. I am grateful, that I have been able to utilize my gift of healing, compassion, and love for people to heal bodies and souls for over 28 years and counting. As of July, I joined the staff at ECPI University as an Adjunct Professor for their nursing program. With this, I have the honor of influencing the next generation of nurses. What sets me apart is the love I have for people and the willingness to see the best in them even when they can’t see it.

How do you think about happiness?
Living life to the fullest and seeing others especially my family do the same. This allows us to live life in complete freedom without limitations placed on us by others including ourselves. I desire to see others walk in their full potential in all areas of their life, I will always encourage and promote the development of the authentic self.
