Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Marie Quinn
Hi Nicole Marie, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was drawn to music at a young age. I enjoyed singing along & dancing to music that I heard on the radio. This led me to start playing the piano & joining the choir when I was 10 years old. I began writing songs at age 11. Music has always been very therapeutic for me. And when I realized the positive impact that sharing music could have on others, it inspired me to continue. I spent many hours as a teenager listening to music, dancing, playing the piano, singing & songwriting. My dream was to become a professional singer. By the time I was 19, I got extremely busy with life, college & work. So I ended up taking a very long break from music. When I was in my late 40s I started dabbling in music again. I had to refresh my memory on how to play the piano. And I decided to add a wider variety of genres to my repertoire. I never played or sang most of these styles before, so it was all brand new to me. I started practicing to get up & running with the basics. Then I began experimenting with how I played the piano & how I sang. And I developed my own unique style. I also started getting back into songwriting again. In Spring of 2023, I got brave enough to take the plunge & shut down my business to become a full-time musician. It was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I am now finally living my dream of being a professional musician. I never imagined I would be able to do this. I am grateful every single day for all the wonderful people I have met through music. Their support has been amazing & so inspiring. I am blessed beyond measure to be able to do what I love.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The main struggle was picking up where I left off 30 years ago. In addition to practicing & expanding my music skills, it also required a lot of courage to start a whole new career. And it was a big risk financially to quit my “day job”. But I had waited my whole life for this chance, so I decided to dive in & take a “sink or swim” mentality. I shut down my business and immediately went full-time as a musician. This would make me 100% focused & determined since I wouldn’t have a safety net. So I worked hard putting many hours into marketing & networking while I learned the music business very quickly. It was definitely a huge challenge & I had to overcome many obstacles. It’s been 18 months since I became a professional musician. I survived my very first year with no other source of income. I wouldn’t have had the courage & ability to do it without the support & encouragement of my amazing friends. They helped me believe in myself & gave me the motivation to keep going. In the end, all the obstacles have been well worth it. I am thankful every day for my blessings.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a singer, pianist & songwriter with a wide vocal range and diversity of styles from sultry to powerhouse. My list of genres include Blues, Jazz, R&B, Rock, Pop, Country, Classics & Originals. I like to take songs & completely revamp them with a new twist. I give my listeners some familiarity combined with an element of surprise. I’m also adding more original songs. My unique show keeps people engaged & wondering what I’m going to do next. I’m most proud of the moments where I feel & see the connection with my audience. Knowing my talents bring joy & music therapy to others is very rewarding. And I’m so grateful to be able to what I love for a living.

Positivity combined with perseverance are two of the most important elements that have led me to my success.
