Today we’d like to introduce you to Carlos Bedoya
Hi Carlos, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I dedicated 18 years to Publix Super Markets, retiring as a store manager after successfully leading multiple locations in Florida and South Carolina. While I’ve always had a passion for real estate, I never felt it was the right time to make the transition. In February of this year, I made the decision to shift careers, leaving the grocery industry to pursue my goal of becoming a top-tier realtor and providing more time to be there for my family. I’m happily married to my beautiful wife, Genesis, and we are raising three wonderful daughters. Leveraging my expertise in delivering exceptional customer service and managing teams, I’ve been able to achieve rapid success in real estate, closing 10 transactions since making the transition earlier this year.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Transitioning from a corporate W-2 role to becoming an independent contractor presented significant challenges initially, particularly due to the lack of structure and the need for self-discipline. The first few months were especially difficult as I had no set schedule or direct supervision, leading to irregular work hours and inefficiencies. It wasn’t until I implemented a structured calendar and committed to holding myself accountable that things began to improve. This shift allowed me to focus more effectively, complete tasks efficiently, and, most importantly, prioritize dedicated time with my family.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a bilingual realtor with RE/MAX Results, specializing in residential and new construction real estate, with a focus on first-time homebuyers and relocations in Upstate South Carolina. I hold several key designations, including Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR), Seller Representative Specialist (SRS), and Senior Real Estate Specialist (SRES). What sets me apart is my commitment to delivering exceptional customer service, offering bilingual support, and building strong relationships with my clients. I’m proud to provide a seamless, team-based approach through partnerships with Spanish-speaking attorneys, lenders, and other real estate professionals.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
or those just starting out in real estate, my advice would be to embrace structure and consistency early on. Transitioning into real estate, especially as an independent contractor, can feel overwhelming due to the lack of built-in accountability. It’s essential to create a daily schedule, set clear goals, and hold yourself accountable—your calendar will be one of your most valuable tools. I wish I had known sooner how important it is to build and nurture relationships, not just with clients, but with other industry professionals like attorneys, lenders, and inspectors. These partnerships can elevate your service and grow your business. Lastly, never underestimate the power of persistence—success takes time, but with focus and determination, it will come.
