Today we’d like to introduce you to Chloe Blackburn
Hi Chloe, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My journey into social media management began when I was a junior in high school. Having danced competitively for 11 years, I was offered a position as the social media manager for a dance shop affiliated with my studio. It felt like a dream come true—working in social media and content creation was something I had always wanted, but I never realized it could be a reality. From there, I expanded my portfolio, managing social media for a realtor. After graduating from Fox Creek High School in North Augusta, SC, I moved to Greenwood to attend Lander University. I started managing the “Lander University Class of 2026” Instagram page, which led to the Vice President of Enrollment recommending me to the Dean of the College of Graduate and Online Studies. Now, I manage social media for them while pursuing a degree in marketing, management, and public relations. Along the way, my fiancé helped connect me to the Director of Marketing at Hawaii Fluid Art, where I began as a marketing intern. Within three months, I was promoted to Digital Outreach and Engagement Coordinator for their corporate office, also managing the Greenville location, which is run by my fiancé’s family. Now, I balance my work at Lander University and Hawaii Fluid Art, while planning my wedding and working toward completing my degree.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like anyone juggling multiple responsibilities, I’ve faced my share of challenges. Balancing school, work, and personal life can feel overwhelming at times, and there have been moments where it felt like everything was moving faster than I could keep up with. Life has its unexpected twists, and sometimes things don’t go as planned—whether it’s feeling the pressure of deadlines or dealing with personal obstacles that require attention. But these struggles are relatable to many of us trying to build a career while navigating everything else life throws our way. It’s been about finding balance, learning to prioritize, and staying resilient through the ups and downs.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As the Digital Outreach and Engagement Coordinator for Hawaii Fluid Art, I specialize in helping studio owners connect with local influencers, plan influencer events, and create engaging social media content, including trendy reels and TikToks. I also assist the Director of Marketing with various corporate-level projects, contributing to the overall brand’s growth. My strength lies in producing fun, creative reels that align with the latest social media trends, and I’m always exploring new ways to engage audiences. What sets me apart is my genuine passion for social media and how quickly I’ve gained experience in the field. I’m incredibly proud of how far I’ve come in such a short time, and it’s fulfilling to see my work make a positive impact.
In addition to my role at Hawaii Fluid Art, I also work for Lander University. Here, I’ve had the unique opportunity to interview students and showcase the vibrant campus life through various social media channels. Being able to share the stories of students and highlight what makes our college community special has been an incredibly rewarding experience. Whether it’s through Instagram, Facebook, or other platforms, I’m dedicated to showcasing Lander University in an authentic and engaging way. Managing both roles has taught me valuable lessons in balancing creativity with strategy, and I absolutely love the diversity of work I get to do every day.
How do you define success?
I define success as finding fulfillment and growth in what I do, both personally and professionally. It’s not just about reaching a specific milestone or achievement, but about continuously learning, adapting, and making an impact along the way. For me, success is when I can look at the work I’ve done, see how it’s helped others, and feel proud of the progress I’ve made. It’s also about balance—being able to pursue my passions, maintain meaningful relationships, and enjoy the journey, not just the destination.
