Life & Work with Jamie Clark of Lexington

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamie Clark

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I came to faith in Christ in 2003, and immediately was burdened with a desire to share the Gospel with others. Eventually I came across some other men who were Biblically faithful open-air preachers, and realized that the Lord was drawing me in this direction. J316 Ministries came together in 2019 during Covid as a way of putting a name to this desire to make Christ known. The mission statement of J316 Ministries summarizes the ultimate goal:

“Based out of Lexington, South Carolina, J316 Ministries is an evangelistic ministry existing for the purpose of making Christ known through the proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ by way of open-air preaching, Gospel tract distribution, and one on one conversations, in order that the lost may be saved, and believers sanctified, and encouraged, to make Christ known.”

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I wouldn’t say it has been a smooth road, but more of a two steps forward, one step back journey. Their is always a battle with the inner desire to please man rather than God in order to attain approval from man. Like others in this type of ministry, I have to constantly remind myself that I will answer to God for how I conducted this ministry and it is Him alone that I should seek to please. Ultimately, the goal is to hear, “well done, good and faithful servant.”

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I have worked in physical therapy for nearly 25 years in a variety of settings. If there is anything I can take pride in, it would be that the Lord put me here as another type of ministry to help others physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
I don’t get to read as much as I would like, but I stick primarily to the Bible and books about theology. I listen to a lot of different podcasts that deal with cultural issues as well as evangelism and theology: The Briefing with Albert Mohler, Renewing Your Mind with RC Sproul, the Living Waters Podcast, and Hearts for the Lost.
