Meet Kayla Lander of Greenville, SC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kayla Lander

Hi Kayla, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve had an interesting journey. I was thrown into every activity or sport possible as a child, so adaptability became part of my nature. But, how did I get to where I am? I think via lots of curiosity about learning and people. In terms of formal education, I have an undergrad in Modern Language: Spanish, as well as, a Master’s in Environmental Toxicology. I also have certifications and experience with Health Coaching, Personal Training, Teaching, Hosting workshops, writing and more. Currently, I’m in the full-time mother role, but starting to ‘come back online’ and feeling ready to re-ignite some of my previous professional flames!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Smooth road? Not in the slightest.

Whether going to the beginning and how I came from an untraditional somewhat broken family or to the business I started that didn’t go off the ground, there have been many hurdles. However, I am one, to not see hurdles as failures, but as learning opportunities.

When I taught Yoga & Neuroscience-based Meditation classes at Clemson University, I had to leave, even though it was a dream job, because I couldn’t get enough hours.
When my business partner for Biologic Balance dropped out, I decided to shut it down, because I couldn’t do it all alone.
When I was a Health Coach at Noom, I made it through 3 rounds of layoffs before my whole department was cut, leaving me unemployed.

These are just a few examples, but through each experience, I tapped into my values, learned about myself, and carried that knowledge going forward to my next chapters.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m known as someone who loves health, community, and curiosity.

Because of my background, I specialize in a lifestyle-based approach to health. It’s not just about what someone eats or how they move, but considering all the little pieces of each person’s unique wellness (physical, emotional, social, intellectual, spiritual, etc.), that influence how to create their ‘balance’.

As a coach and teacher, I encourage people to build awareness so that they can create systems to reach their potential. The potential that’s always been there! Not only do they learn to work with their strengths and weaknesses, but they also build the resiliency, skills, and awareness to adapt as their needs/environment shift. It’s a dance of exploration and empowerment.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
I think every single person on this planet has something beautiful to offer. I hope that we can all find peace within ourselves, learn what being ‘well’ truly feels like, and support each other to reach our potential. Together, we’re powerful.
