Today we’d like to introduce you to Major Mcwhorter
Hi Major, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I played golf at Columbia International University here in Columbia, SC. During my time as a student, I worked at a local daycare and loved the idea of mentoring and teaching the younger generation. I wanted to find a way to combine my two passions, golf and teaching. After graduation, I was offered the Assistant Coach position at my alma mater. In May of 2024, I set a goal to start own Golf Instruction business. Now, 2M Golf is intended to inspire golfers of any level and age to achieve their goals in a fun and comfortable setting.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road to starting a business was rough at the start. I had no prior knowledge of running a business and there were some road blocks. My great friend, Tyler, at Epic Arches, has helped me tremendously on my new journey.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a golf instructor located in Columbia, SC. I specialize in Beginner and Advanced lessons, as well as group camps for ages 6-13.
I am set apart from others due to my youthfulness and ability to connect with anyone, at any age. With 4 years of collegiate golf experience and 2 years coaching at the college level, my deep knowledge in golf has helped me develop players immensely.
I want readers to know that they will be challenged in many ways, but it will also be a fun and engaging experience.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
One of my favorite things about Columbia is the restaurant choices. Finding a new local spot is something I truly enjoy. Say hey to me if you see me!
My least favorite thing about Columbia is not a big golf city and it always too hot!
