Today we’d like to introduce you to Riley Melton
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I am a variety streamer on Twitch! I have always been drawn to the idea of livestreaming, ever since I was young. I’ve been drawn to content creation as a whole. I started uploaded videos to YouTube at a very young age, TERRIBLE unedited videos. I started to take things a little more seriously in high school and uploaded vlogs to YouTube. YouTube is great, but Twitch streaming is where my heart is. I began streaming in 2021 but didn’t take it too seriously until 2023. This is when I began to put my all into the “ri1eypaige” brand and focus on networking and improving my content.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has NOT been a smooth road. Content creation is very inconsistent and is a numbers game. The numbers/view count is different every stream and your value as a creator is essentially based on these numbers. Bigger numbers = better performance, you want these larger numbers. When you see a view count in the single digits or a video performing poorly, it can take a toll on your mental and make you feel very unmotivated to continue, even when you love what you do. The point of being a creator is to perform and entertain others, and if others aren’t watching you, you feel like a failure.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I focus on gaming content, fundraising for charities and hosting shows on Twitch! Recently, I have been very proud of a Twitch Dating Show I started hosting, Couple Up. It’s still somewhat new but performs well, contestants and viewers love it, and I love it! I try to improve and enhance each show, always taking feedback from viewers and contestants to make things better for everyone involved.
