Conversations with Caroline Cannon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Caroline Cannon

Caroline, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
From a young age, I’ve always had a creative spark. In high school I dabbled in graphic design but had no clue how I would turn my love for design into a career. When it came time for college, I decided to try something different… turns out the traditional college path wasn’t for me. So, I took a leap and dropped out.

This path led me to a new venture with my mom. Together, we opened a business in our hometown, and I took on the task of designing our website with very little knowledge. When COVID-19 hit, we were in the midst of opening, and that’s when I realized just how crucial a strong online presence was. The positive feedback on the website made me realize that I might have a real knack for website design, which was both surprising and encouraging!

After I got married, my husband’s support was a real game-changer. He believed in my potential even when I had doubts. Encouraged by him, I started Caroline Cannon Designs. Three years of dedicated learning and hard work have transformed my small venture into something beyond my wildest dreams. Every project and client has been a step toward growth, and I’m incredibly grateful for how far I’ve come. My journey has truly been a testament to following your passion, continuing to learn, and the importance of support from your loved ones.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth ride. Learning brand and website design has been pretty straightforward thanks to the tons of online resources and tutorials available. But the tougher part has been dealing with my own self-doubt. I often find myself comparing my work to others and questioning if I’m good enough, which can be really discouraging.

As my business has grown tremendously over the past few months, I’ve started to feel more confident in my skills, but those moments of uncertainty still pop up now and then. That’s why I think it’s so important to be transparent about these struggles as a business owner. A lot of us face these doubts, especially when we’re just starting out. If you’re dealing with similar feelings, just know you’re not alone. It’s all part of the journey!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
At Caroline Cannon Designs, I blend luxury with feminine flair to create designs that truly resonate. My focus is on crafting modern, aesthetic touches that not only look beautiful but also connect deeply with your audience.

What sets me apart is my personal experience and empathy. I know what it’s like to take that scary leap of faith, so I bring a lot of empathy and understanding to my work. That’s why I’m so passionate about helping other female entrepreneurs navigate their journeys.

I’m most proud of the strong connections I build with my clients and the way my designs help their businesses truly shine. The joy of seeing their visions come to life and watching their brand connect with their ideal clients is what makes this work so fulfilling for me.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
My biggest piece of advice for anyone starting out is to just go for it. Don’t stress about making everything perfect before you begin. It’s better to jump in and learn as you go. You might take on some projects that aren’t your dream job, but that’s part of the journey. With time and effort, you’ll find yourself working with the clients you really want and making your dreams happen.

Looking back, I wish I’d known that failing isn’t the end of the world. It’s okay to mess up—what matters is that you keep trying. If you never take the risk, you’ll never know what you’re capable of. So don’t let fear hold you back. Go after your dreams with everything you’ve got, and remember that every stumble is just a step towards where you want to be!
