Today we’d like to introduce you to Tetiana Sorokina
Hi Tetiana, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story starts from Ukraine where I was born. My mom owned a business of custom made curtains in Ukraine and nice little I helped her with little tasks there. After the war started in Ukraine I moved to the U.S. and everything felt like starting from scratch. We had to rebuild our lives, we had a boy and were expecting a girl. I knew I needed something flexible that would fit around being a mom, and also something I was passionate about.
I’ve always loved design and working with fabrics, so I decided to dive into a custom curtain business. I found it’s a perfect way to combine my love for creativity with the flexibility I needed. I get to help clients pick out beautiful fabrics and create curtains that really make their homes shine. I absolutely love talking with people and figuring out what will work best for them. This business helps me to integrate into society in USA.
My living room turned into a fabric paradise but seeing my business grow and hearing how much people love their new curtains makes it all worth it.
Starting fresh in a new country has been tough, but it’s also been an incredible journey. My custom curtain business isn’t just about making a living; it’s about creating something special for people and making my own little mark here in the U.S.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Moving to a new country and starting a business from scratch came with its fair share of challenges. One of the biggest struggles was adjusting to a completely new environment. Everything from the language barrier to understanding the local market was a learning curve. Finding clients and building a reputation is another hurdle. In a new place, establishing trust and getting noticed takes time and effort. But I enjoy it so much that I would never regret about it.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about KimKlare draperies?
