Exploring Life & Business with Molly Bryant of Studio M Co.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Molly Bryant

Hi Molly, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
In 2022 I launched Studio M Co., a boutique-style commercial interior design firm. Ever since childhood I was intrigued by spaces and loved all things drawing and art. I began my higher education on a graphic design path and after my first year I took an Architecture studio course that soon introduced me to the Interior Design major. After graduating I worked as an interior designer at a commercial architecture firm that focused on hotels and specialty retail. The 2008 recession hit and I decided it was time to pursue a Master’s degree. I went back to school while continuing to work part-time and earned a MFA degree in Design Research. It was during that time that I was able to hone the skills that are helpful in conducting user group programing workshops. After graduating, I continued to work at the hospitality firm for a few more years until I went to a larger firm to pursue interior design for the workplace and sports markets. I always had an interest in creating a business of my own and 2022 seemed like the right time to launch. At Studio M Co. we design with our clients and we act as their conduit to uncover design problems and extract their project goals. We apply design skills to create and communicate a vision in a tangible way. Design has a transformative power, including its power to influence and enhance elements of our daily lives. We want to help our clients be the best version of themselves through design.
Intentionally planned interiors are not a luxury but a necessity, and we are here to shed light on the possibilities, broaden perspectives, and elevate expectations.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I have encountered some bumps along the way, but I learned to pivot and put in the grit along the way. I am so grateful for all of the opportunities, experiences, and people who have been apart of my career journey. It took 20 years of lessons learned before I felt comfortable to take a risk on entrepreneurship, I am still figuring it out, and I will probably still be figuring it out 20 years from now. Learning never stops.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Studio M Co.?

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
I don’t know who originally said this, but they say it takes 10,000 hours to master a skill. When you break it down that is 4.8 years. When I was 4.8 years into my career there was still so much more to learn. Keep at it and keep making good work. Look back and celebrate the small wins and reflect on your improvements. Set goals and aim 5 times higher, you will be able to achieve more than you think.
