Inspiring Conversations with Q Moldrik of Legacy Digital Marketing

Today we’d like to introduce you to Q Moldrik

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’ve been in the digital marketing industry for almost a decade. My career in Charleston began in the magazine sales world, where I focused on building sales through innovative digital marketing efforts. This included creating experiential clips for clients to use on social media and their websites. Through these efforts, I was able to grow the magazine from 16 to 60 pages within three years.

However, when COVID-19 hit, I lost my job. This unexpected turn led me to start working with my now-husband, Gunnar Moldrik, also known as GunnarMade. Together, we rebranded his online personality to focus on training moms in the Charleston area. We also built an eCommerce business selling fitness and nutrition programs, which created a passive income stream that helped us get through the pandemic.

Additionally, I co-founded a vegan meal prep company with Gunnar that went nationwide. I handled every aspect of the business, including marketing, which taught me a lot about the digital space. This experience made me realize that if I could achieve this with my husband, I could certainly do it for other people.

I began picking up smaller local clients and made my first hire in 2022. This decision catapulted my company beyond my expectations because it allowed me to focus on revenue-generating opportunities while having support for operations. One of my clients, Tim Bratz, a well-known real estate mogul, bought my company and became a business partner in January 2023.

We launched Legacy Digital in January 2023 and quickly grew our presence in the real estate space, working with experts in mobile home parks, short-term rentals, destination real estate, fundraising, and buying and selling homes. With Tim’s connections and our combined expertise, we scaled to a six-figure business in less than six months.

Today, we have clients nationwide, 12 W-2 employees, a team of virtual assistants, and a production team we partner with. We’ve recently won the ‘Best of Charleston 2024’ Best Marketing Firm award and are nominated for the Charleston Choice Post and Courier Best Agency.

Our goal is to focus on the South Carolina, specifically Charleston, market to support local businesses in strengthening their digital presence. We offer a wide range of services, including reputation management, brand building, logo creation, brand identity, content creation, social media management, email marketing, SEO, and paid ads.

It has been a rollercoaster ride over the past almost two years, and we are incredibly excited to see what the next year holds!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely NOT. The journey has been anything but smooth. There have been quite a few scary moments where I didn’t think I’d make it through, but I’ve always managed to pivot and find a way forward.

The first year of business felt like throwing 10,000 darts and hoping something would stick. We were experimenting with different strategies, trying to figure out what worked and what didn’t. Going into the second year, we started to see the results of our efforts and began to neutralize and centralize our operations. We developed consistent processes and standard operating procedures (SOPs) that allowed us to plant the seeds we knew would grow. Now, as we approach our third year, we hope to harvest the fruits of all our hard work.

It’s been a wild journey, but mindset has been everything. Hard things have happened, and more hard things will continue to happen. If you adopt a mentality of failure when times get tough, then failure is what you’ll experience. We’ve faced more failures than successes since we started, but the lessons and wins have carried us through to where we are now. Each time we’re faced with adversity, we grow stronger and more resilient.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Legacy Digital Marketing?
Legacy Digital is a women-owned and operated business that prides itself on being a comprehensive digital marketing agency. We specialize in content creation, branding, and social media management, but our services extend to reputation management, branding, logo creation/brand identity, SEO, paid ads, and email marketing. You can learn more about us at www.legacydigital.com.

What sets us apart from others is our insane attention to detail. We focus on creating a narrative and storyline that distinguishes each of our brands from their competitors, offering a luxury service that functions as a fractional CMO for your company at a quarter of the price. Our team is young, dynamic, and deeply entrenched in the digital world. We are completely in tune with what is happening, why it’s happening, and how it affects our clients. Additionally, we make strong data-driven decisions, using analytics and insights to evolve and enhance our clients’ brands.

I’m most proud of our young team, who treats this business as if it were their own. They may not all be entrepreneurs, but they are ‘intra’-preneurs who take complete ownership of their roles and tackle every challenge with passion and a “get it done right the first time” mentality.

I want readers to know that we are not your average digital marketing agency. We immerse your brand into our culture and treat it as if it were our own. We strongly believe that the digital world is where our current and future generations make their decisions, and now is the time to begin your business’s online story. At Legacy Digital, we are dedicated to helping you craft a compelling digital presence that resonates with your audience and drives success.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I’m originally from northeast-central Pennsylvania, specifically State College, PA, where it’s cold, rainy, or snowing about 75% of the year. I moved to Charleston in 2016 and quickly fell in love with the culture, the positive southern energy, the palm trees, the beaches, and the overall lifestyle. After living here for almost eight years, I can confidently say that my favorite part of Charleston is the overwhelmingly supportive community. This is a place where small businesses can truly succeed, and the sense of camaraderie and support among local entrepreneurs is unparalleled.

As for my least favorite part? That would definitely be the weather from June to September. I’m not a fan of the 98+ degree temperatures coupled with 100% humidity from sun up to sun down. It’s a small price to pay for all the wonderful things Charleston has to offer, but it certainly takes some getting used to!
