Today we’d like to introduce you to Kierra Sellers
Kierra, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I didn’t initially set out to become a makeup artist, but life often takes us on unexpected journeys. Back in 2017, I was struggling with depression and prayed for something that would help me take my mind off my worries. I found that doing my own makeup was incredibly therapeutic. Around that time, I also connected with a community of like-minded women, which was incredibly supportive.
One day, my cousin asked me to do her makeup for her birthday photo shoot. After that, word spread, and I started accepting clients. After about three years of freelancing, I decided to enroll in cosmetology school, as I also knew how to style hair, and it made the most sense at the time. It’s been a fulfilling journey ever since.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I’d be lying if I said yes, but it was worth every tear shed. Some struggles I faced along the way included a lack of mentorship, which led me to connect with the Goal Slayers Tribe. They invited me to speak on a panel, even though I didn’t feel qualified at the time, but it was a transformative experience, and I’ve been with them ever since. Life has its twists and turns, and I did face some financial hardships, but nothing is too big for the God I serve.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a licensed beauty professional specializing in wefted extension installs, blowouts, silk presses, and makeup. I’m dedicated to providing professional and friendly salon services that enhance your natural beauty in the Lowcountry and surrounding areas. While I am most known for my makeup skills, I actually started out as a braider.
I’m incredibly proud of the brand I’ve built over the years and the resilience I’ve shown in never giving up when things got tough. My journey began with Yours Truly Beauty Emporium, then evolved to Abella Beauty, and now Luxe Beauty Authority, where I offer both products and services.
As a multi-gifted creative, there’s very little I can’t do, and I’m excited to add more offerings soon. What sets me apart is my exceptional customer service experience, my ability to connect with clients, and my commitment to providing high-quality services and products. I strive to offer an experience, not just an average service, ensuring every client feels special and valued.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I don’t believe in luck, but I do believe that God’s divine timing is the best thing that could ever happen. Everything that has unfolded in my life and business has been a result of faith, perseverance, and trusting in His perfect plan.
